Starting to prepare paperwork for AOS with a few questions please:

Do I pay the fee for each person (my new wife plus her 2 kids (12 & 11 yrs)? Also Social security office is telling me I need EAD for her 2 kids before they are given a social security number. They are only kids? and will not be working, but rather going to school. It's a bit confusing, so any inputs would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Romans 8:31

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

When I paid teh AOS bill...the fee of $70 was paid only once for both my wife and our daughter. Am sure the same will happen for you. I think any minor children listed on her I130 are approved with her payment.

The social security cards...when you complete you DS230, your next step, there is an option on each application to announce your decision to have the government automatically send out a social security card or you can decided to complete that process on your own once they arrive. My suggestion would be to get SSN for your wife and the children and do it via the automatic process. The kids will need SSN for school to begin with...and other things along the way.

Hope this helps.

The social security office told me the same thing when we inquired about an s.s. card for her 6 year old son. I filled out the section on DS-230 for Social Security cards but they were never sent. The social security office made it seem as though you had to fill out the paperwork at their offices to get s.s. cards. I too am filling out the AOS paperwork and I agree some of it is confusing.

they are K-1. DS-230 not used for K-1's in Manila.

each person will have to pay a fee for AOS. since the kids are under age 14, they will be $600 each, there is no biometric fee.

the only way for the kids to have an SSN is to have either an EAD or green card, our daughter started school without an SSN. I'm sure the school district will understand the situation.

$1010 for your wife

$600 for each kid

You need to snd 3 separate checks, not all on one check.

You should apply for EAD's for the kids too, even though they are young. The EAD is just an interim GC (not really, but for this purpose yes). You will need the EAD's to be abale to get SSN's for the kids. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until they get their greencards.

I think you might be able to enroll them in school without an SSN, but I'm not sure.
