I am looking at that from my country point of view. In Poland, sorry to say, but your luggage is safe as long as you have a police man next to it.

According to National Express Coast there is some place to eat on the train.

And I am amazed Heatrow Express from LHR to Paddington GBP 15.90 kinda expensive comparing to rail ticket from London Kings Cross to Aberdeen GBP 17.00 including trip insurance. Whoaaaa.... do they carry passengers by in/out the HE in golden chariots serving lobster or what?

Only £17 from London to Aberdeen!!???????? OK, such super-cheap fares do exist, but by God, you've gotta be quick/lucky to nail those. But if you've managed to nail one, Maad, then fair play to ya. Oh and btw, the reason the Heathrow Express is so expensive, is that it takes a quarter of the time the tube does to get to central London.

There will be a dining car on the train in first class. Its not cheap! But for a trip that long, its worth using it.

You got a good deal on your KX to Aberdeen fare. Its usaually well over GBP100. I was lucky to get it for GBP14 when I was going down for the Medical/interview.

yea.. actually it was 16.00 but because of the dining car I just booked her in the first class for 35.00

and the tube I understand is GBP 4.00

Now I need to get her a prepaid cell phone so I won't be ruined on roaming charges

haha I wish!! You can get really cheap fares for first class too. Me & Ginger went first class once earlier this year. It was actually cheaper than the standard class fare. Really expensive on the train. Its like 20 quid for a full English breakfast!

Sign up to the email alerts. They email you when the cheap fares go on sale. Though you do have to nab them that day. I got Carlisle to London for me & Ginger in April for 7 quid each.

Yep, and that would be quicker - for you and me that understand the London Underground. Remember, the OP wants to get to Kings Cross, not Paddington, and it's their first time. For someone that doesn't have an earthly , the simple route (involving no changes at all) is the Picadilly Line. And Nicky, 2-3 hours!!!??? Did you have a bad experience or something!!?? Nah - 1 hour, tops.

it's a bit more than £4 for the tube, cos you got to get a zone 1-6 pass, it's £13.30 if the jouney starts at peak times, and £6.50 otherwise. I've done the trip a few times, and I'd say an hour and a half is about right.

and I know is a beautiful.. been there like 20 years ago. That's why she is taking the train... a little bit of something different than a cornfields of Midwest.
