Getting started

Although we're not actually filing for another month or so, I'd like to get started gathering the items we will need for filing the I129F. I've read the guides, read the forms, read many of your stories and timelines but I still feel I'm not clear on what is needed.

Does any have or know where to find a checklist with things listed step-by-step? I'm the kind of person that likes to have it in writing so I can check it off as I go (you should see my wedding preparation checklist hehehe!)

Any help would be appreciated!!

As long as you read the guides and follow the checklist, then you won't forget anything.

You can always ask questions along the way. Lots of people list their stuff as they are preparing it to bounce ideas off us, ask questions, etc.

Dont' get yourself worked up into a tizzy. Take deep breaths. And, take it one step at a time.

I am all for lists too. I send a list with every piece of paper my fiance had to include (its tuff when you are the list maker, but someone else is putting together the package.) Most of the information for what I put on my list came from this site. All the information is here. If you took the time to do your reseach you should have no problems (at least that is what I tell myself all the time.)

One hint: Europeans and Americans seem to write dates differently. My fiancee was worried cause I wrote my dates (on the letters, not the forms where they give the layout) as DD-MM-YYYY and he wrote his as MM-DD-YYYY (something that makes no sense to me, but that american apparently often do) SO instead just write out the month. I have never seen someone on here have problems with that, and honestly thought it was dumb untill a friend had to re-do her forms for a student visa cause she did not use the same date format throughout.

Follow the guide & the checklist. Take your time preparing this - don't rush through it.

There's forms and guides for everything for the visa. I followed it to the T and had my NOA2 after 103 days of my NOA1.
