Quick questions. Can you tell me how long it took for you to get your Police Clearance Certificate please? I am waiting on my husband to go and get his but first he has to update his passport. I know getting a whole new passport will take two weeks but after that i am jsut trying to figure out how long it will take for the Police Clearance. Thank you.

It usually take one week from the day you apply, your husband has to take 3 passport pictures to the CID headquarters at eve leary and they will give him a form to fill out ( his name passport number and reason for police clearance - nothing difficult) and pay $G500 and go back in about 1 week.

I hope this helps

My husband got it in 3 days...it may depend on who you talk to, but a week is definitely not bad. Too bad I dont really need it yet.... :(

Savie, do you need to send both copies of the police certificate with the DS-230? or just the top white one?

My husband sent the white one only. A bit of advice is if your husband has birth certificates and marriage older than 2 years old he should apply at GRO for new ones and not wait for the last minute. This can be a hassle at the GRO office.

savie

Thanks...thankfully we went to GPO and got everything brand new. So now we're just waiting and praying for an approval soon. Hopefully we won't have to wait to much longer. December is almost here. You must be excited. I wish you the best!!!

I am very excited - the last time I saw my husband was October 3, 2007 at 6am when he left for the airport. I am anxious to see him again. I wish you all the best too

I can't imagine...I would go crazy!!! Thanks Savie. We should all try to keep in touch here :)

I agree with you. I tried to call out people from Guyana a few months ago but nobody responded from Guyana. Anyway. It is nice to share the journey with others like myself. I am trying to keep my cool :star: but just the thought of knowing that in less than 3 months i am going to see my hsuband again is making me so excited, i cannot sit still but i am now bored jsut sitting around waiting.

I never saw that message you sent out, maybe i was in Guyana at the time. The problem is I dont think too many of us come on here daily. I could be wrong...most of the time I'm not logged on when I'm on VJ myself. It would definitely be nice to share with others going through the same thing. My friends definitely don't understand what I am going through with all this waiting. I'm trying to keep cool, but I am so nervous about everything. Its really the embassy part that I'm afraid of. Hopefully I am right behind you, as far as the journey goes. Hope your hubby gets his passport soon.

It's okay.

Well, it looks like a January interview for us. My husband is going in on Monday to submit his passport, so he could get a new one, that's two weeks and then one week to get the Police Clearance, so that's three weeks. We will be just in time to be scheduled for January early, hopefully. That's okay cause at least i know this is our last Christmas apart and it gives me more time to prepare for his arrival. :star: At least we have something to look forward to for the new year. Also, i will be able to take a week off if he comes next year. So i am kind of happy anyway. Okay i am trying desperately to make myself feel better.

MrsRowe,

please keep us updated. I am curious to see how long it takes to get an interview at the embassy. I hope you make it for January. I'm hoping my hubby will be here before our 1st anniversay in March. I guess I could use the time to prepare too...

I hope so too. I'm definitely going down for the interview. That embassy has been tough in the past. Anything that may help our chances I will do. Maybe I'm being paranoid...

I know what you are saying. I however have gotten so much evidence in my place i pray that they have enough. Also, we have a daughter together.

I don't know how much more evidence they want. My list is long

Letters

Cards

Pictures of Wedding and Engagment Ceremony

An invitation from our engagement ceremony

Mya's birth certificate(our daughter)

He is on my life insurance as a beneficiary. I wish i could add him to my medical but its' just not possible.

He is on our daughter's baptismal certificate (offering up actually) as her father.

Copy of tickets, intineraries for visits

Cards sent to him from our daughter.

He is listed as her father at her daycare and doctor's office, so i am getting them both to write letter stating that.

One email (he is not good at using computers, i am thinkg we are going to leave that out).

Pictures of him with Mya and Mya with her brothers, her grandmother cousin's etc. Really they should know that's his daughter cause they look exactly like each other. I guess i shouldn't have been been so mad at him during my entire preganncy? :bonk:

Awwww...daddy's little girl... lol

Well sounds like u have everything together so you'll be ok.

I already started getting my evidence together too. I have faith that the NVC stage will be quick and I'll get an interview in a reasonable amount of time. Its just depressing waiting for VSC...I'm seriously going nuts over here. If one more person asks me when my husband is coming, there's definitely gonna be some violence :bonk::rofl:

My husband told me that to get his police certificate in 3 days he told them that I was leaving for the US in 4 days and that I needed to take it back with me. I guess your hubby can try something like that...and maybe u can shave a few days off. I know its not much of a difference but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Yep, she certainly is that. As much as she only spent two weeks of her life with him, you would think he has been around her, since she was born. lol. I hope we will be fine. I was at VSC before our case got transferred and we were approved less than a month after that. VSC is known for their slowness. I don't knwo what's going on over there. I am glad you have all your things together. If it seems like getting approved is taking a while i would say go and get new stuff. That embassy seems extra strict. AT this point i have settled into the whole January thing. I am not even worried about rushing anymore. At least we are not stuck somewhere anymore. He will get his passport back on the 29th. He will go on the same day to get clearance. That will take week. By the time he gets all that back. All his paperwork will be filled out and he will just mail everything in by fedex or UPS. Just in time to be scheduled for January. At least i know if he gets any month later than January, i am going home. I will take any excuse to go home. I hope that you get your approval soon.

Thanks...i hope so too. I have a feeling that we will get it by the end of November. Hey, i was talking to the hubby today about the Police certificate. It turns out i was wrong. He says he applied one day and picked it up the next day. He says it only takes three days normally.

I figured out the Past marraige certificate. I actually saw on the website for the embassy in georgetown, they tell you to bring your marriage certificate from your past marriage. So, i will tell my husband to have his ready since he was married before. How is everyone doing?
