I was so happy to hear that me and my daughter visa interview was scheduled for October 30, 2008 one week later I received a letter from the local embassy that my interview was rescheduled for December 2008, I am so disappointed. No reason was given for the rescheduling of our interview. I have not received a notice for the rescheduling of my daughter's interview date as yet? what should I do take my daughter on the date the NVC scheduled her appointment? (my husband filed one I 130 petition for me and another for my daughter and both my daughter and I have different case numbers)

My husband was married twice and both of these marriages took place in the US. The Guyana embassy is now asking for all prior marriage certificates. he does not have the original copy of those marriage certificates although he managed to find the photocopy of the certificates. He has the divorce decrees which he already sent to me. do you see a problem with me submitting the photocopy of these marriage certificates instead of original at the time of the interview.

I live in an apartment building and another tenant who lives is in a similar position with me she married another USC two days after me and is currently awaiting her interview like me. I really did not think anything much of it since I have never met her before I started living here. Living in close proximity we became friends. Before the rescheduling her visa appointment interview my appointment was for October 30 and hers for November 3. We joked about it for a while, then the postman brought our letters indicating that both of our appointments were rescheduled mine now one week ahead of hers. that day I got two letters both were addressed to me one was the letter rescheduling my appointment and the other telling me about an exercise to help the consular section improve customer service with an attached immigrant visa guidelines and I should bring this letter on the day of my interview. The letter went on to say that this letter is sent to a small number of immigrant visa applicants and my friends, relatives or neighbors will not likely receive this letter. If they would lie a copy I should instruct them to send an email to the embassy to request one and they will send an electronic copy. Should I be concerned about this?

Looking forward to hear your views?

If they do not reschedule your daughter's interview then i would say take her in. If she recieves the Visa, she still has six months to travel. Contact the embassy and see if they want originals or copies. I believe that when dealing with the embassy you have to have either originals or ceritified copies. Can your husband request a copy of the originals from the court in the state/city/town he got married? It may not be difficult, he probably just needs to go there and request it. You still have two months to get all this together.

It usually take one week from the day you apply, your husband has to take 3 passport pictures to the CID headquarters at eve leary and they will give him a form to fill out ( his name passport number and reason for police clearance - nothing difficult) and pay $G500 and go back in about 1 week.

I hope this helps

My husband got it in 3 days...it may depend on who you talk to, but a week is definitely not bad. Too bad I dont really need it yet.... :(

Savie, do you need to send both copies of the police certificate with the DS-230? or just the top white one?

My husband sent the white one only. A bit of advice is if your husband has birth certificates and marriage older than 2 years old he should apply at GRO for new ones and not wait for the last minute. This can be a hassle at the GRO office.

Thanks...thankfully we went to GPO and got everything brand new. So now we're just waiting and praying for an approval soon. Hopefully we won't have to wait to much longer. December is almost here. You must be excited. I wish you the best!!!

Thank you so much. My husband is a chronic procrastinator and of course now we have to wait two weeks for his passport to be renewed and then one week for the Clearance. Do either of you know a way to get it renewed faster than that? We got married last year so our marriage certificate is only one year old but it will be two years since we got it next June. Think we should get an updated one now or will we be okay.

I'm sorry I dont know anything about the passport renewal process as my husband's is good until 2011. You're marriage certificate should be ok. I think it has to be less than 2 years old. It doesn't hurt to get another copy though just in case.

I agree with you. I tried to call out people from Guyana a few months ago but nobody responded from Guyana. Anyway. It is nice to share the journey with others like myself. I am trying to keep my cool :star: but just the thought of knowing that in less than 3 months i am going to see my hsuband again is making me so excited, i cannot sit still but i am now bored jsut sitting around waiting.

I never saw that message you sent out, maybe i was in Guyana at the time. The problem is I dont think too many of us come on here daily. I could be wrong...most of the time I'm not logged on when I'm on VJ myself. It would definitely be nice to share with others going through the same thing. My friends definitely don't understand what I am going through with all this waiting. I'm trying to keep cool, but I am so nervous about everything. Its really the embassy part that I'm afraid of. Hopefully I am right behind you, as far as the journey goes. Hope your hubby gets his passport soon.

It's okay.

Well, it looks like a January interview for us. My husband is going in on Monday to submit his passport, so he could get a new one, that's two weeks and then one week to get the Police Clearance, so that's three weeks. We will be just in time to be scheduled for January early, hopefully. That's okay cause at least i know this is our last Christmas apart and it gives me more time to prepare for his arrival. :star: At least we have something to look forward to for the new year. Also, i will be able to take a week off if he comes next year. So i am kind of happy anyway. Okay i am trying desperately to make myself feel better.
