Hi, We are new members to this website but I swear we are the oldest applicants in the immigration history. Well i met lori online in august 2001. we used to talk for long time then finaly in Dec 2003 I had chance to visit usa from Japan to attend a conference, as a Dr of Elec Enginering by profession, so we decieded to get married. We got married.

I went to USA again in Jan 2004 but was denied entry to USA because I didnt register my departure from USA in Dec 2003, first time visit.(keep in mind this was the time of the new security rules and checks at airports due to 911) So my B1 visa was cancelled and I was sent back but no deportation stamp on passport. lori came to Japan and filed the case since i was unable to enter usa.

We filed the I-130 spouse visa March 2004. One of the first people to enter the office and the very last to leave. We were questioned and doubted because I believe my nationality,Pakistan. I think they believed at that time my wife was naive and being taken advantage of. Our case was transferred to another office(in another country-Korea) to be investigated. Told it could take 6 to 8 weeks.

June 2004,still no word, so my wife comes back to Japan for a visit.

October 2004 still waiting, wife comes again to see me. by this time many calls have been made to inquire about our case. We are told that they are still waiting for verification of my documents in Rome Italy!

Emails have been sent with no replies. calls are no longer answered and the immigration officer suddenly is out of office each time a call is taken.

Starting to lose hope my wife, who at this point is pregnant (result of October visit) decides to move to Japan so we may wait together and deliver baby together. leaving her job of 7 years and family behind.

Baby is born June 2005, still no progress in case. told same thing..verification..pending...

*Congessman at this point is involved and backing us with support.*

July 2005..letter is sent to our home by immigration..petition denied!

immigration not satified with wife's previous divorce( done in another country)

Tells her divorce not valid or accepted by immigration, therfore our marriage is concidered not valid, called her a bigamist!

July 2005 hired lawyer, from wife's home state in USA to dissolve the international divorce from her previous marriage so that it would be accepted. 4 months and $4,000 later divorce granted.

December2005, hired immigration lawyer to refile our case

Febuary 2006, Fiance Visa petition is filed(another $3,000 so far)

March 1 2006..Petition recieved, notice is sent with case #

May 2006 Petition approved!..now waiting for package

..my now "fiance"and I are now expecting baby #2,(2 months pregnant) hoping we recieve pkg and complete case in time for us to fly home to deliver baby before her 7month, when airlines perfer pregnant women not to fly...but still have hope....

Congressman from homestate is still backing us up with support letters.

keeping fingers and toes crossed, saying many prayers and knocking on a lot of wood!

Sounds like the typical immigration nightmare. This process is awful....unfair........confusing...frustrating......confounding.......etc..

I wish you well. I would think that after what you and your wife have gone through and still have remained together.......that they would give you both the benefit of the doubt by now that you are a bonafide couple ..........and just give you your darn green card!
