Hello,

Since my fiance has lived in Canada for a while before, she needs to get a police clearance from the RCMP. she is suppose to send them her fingerprints (plus other stuff) taken at her local police in Japan. But, her police said she is suppose to bring them a form, before they will giver her her fingerprints. I have been looking all over on what form this is, and I cannot get in contact with anyone from the RCMP or the canadian embassy in Japan. The few forms on the RCPM website do not look like they are the ones we need.

So i called a canadian embassy here in the US and the lady said that her police should give her fingerprints if she brings them her instrucutions from her packet that tells her that she will need a police clearance. Is This true? How about if i show them my noa2 as well (even though its in English)?

Please someone help. This is really throwing us through a loop for the ast 2 weeks, as well as so much stress.

thank you in advance.

Outside Canada: Applicants who are not physically present in Canada must obtain a Certified Criminal Record Check by sending a duplicate set of fingerprints (taken by a local police force) to the RCMP. Fingerprint submissions must include the following:
  • rolled and flat impressions of all ten fingers taken with black ink (may use a standard FD-258 FBI fingerprint card)

  • full name, date of birth, and sex of the applicant

  • the name and address of the police agency taking the fingerprints

  • the signature of the official taking the fingerprints

  • the reason for the fingerprint submission (U.S. visa)

  • the processing fee of CAD 25.00 or USD 18.00, payable to the "Receiver General for Canada" by certified check or money order.

Fingerprint submissions should be sent to: RCMP, Civil Fingerprint Screening Services, P.O. Box 8885, Ottawa, ON, K1G 3M8. Additional information is available online. http://www.rcmp.ca/crimrec/finger2_e.htm#Obtain

Should be able to get an FD-258 card at the US consulate. OR Download and print this on card stock: http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/pdf/fpcardb.pdf

According to Department of state, RCMP will accept FBI fingerprint cards, make sure you get 2 sets done.

One last note, the info on DOS shows $25 Canadian, or $18 US, but considering that the exchange is near par, I would be paying Canada $25 USD.

US Department of State indicates that RCMP will accept a FD-258 in place of the C-216C form, they are essentially the same thing, a uniform card to do fingerprints on.

C-216C is only available for persons living in Canada, if outside canada you can use what ever form that is acceptable by local police to do finger prints on, again use FD-258 if you cannot acquire a C-216C.

If you are OUTSIDE OF CANADA:
  • contact the nearest police force which offers fingerprinting services. The RCMP will accept fingerprint forms from foreign countries that contain the following:
    • rolled and flat impressions of all ten fingers taken with black ink

    • full name, date of birth and sex of the applicant

    • the name and address of the police agency

    • the signature of the official taking the fingerprints
