Hi. We got our I-130 approved on Sept 17th and touched again on Sept 19th. Nothing is coming up yet at NVC and I am starting to worry about it especially since others have gotten their case numbers already.

How long is too long and who do we speak to? I am worried that this is going to become a finger pointing exercise and we will get caught in the middle ..... and I have very little patience for incompetence.

We went from USCIS approving the petition in Mid Sept to Nov without hearing anything from NVC. Didn't hear anything until NVC sent us a letter saying our case was being sent to MTL. During that time when we checked the automated customer service our case was not found.

So relax and enjoy the ride.

Btw. IF you have MTL Sprailenes has got it right.

The difference is Sly is a CR1/IR1 and he needs to hear from NVC

Sly, I think it's a bit odd that it is taking so long. Have you called NVC and spoken with an operator?

We have not tried to speak with an operator yet. I think we may on Monday if we dont get anything by then. I am already feeling aggrevated ... too many past experiences dealing with bureaucracy. I assume they will only speak with the USC?

Good question, I'm not sure - I think they will talk to either from what I have read on VJ.

Ok, my wife just called and they gave her a case number so I assume they got our file. They said they could not give an IIN number. No idea when they got it but the operator said something will come in the mail in 2 to 4 weeks.

Besides getting all our stuff ready is there anything else we should or can do to speed things up?

Thanks

Sly

You can assume they have your file as they have assigned the number.

Nothing else to do at this point but get the documents together. Quite a few in the CR1/IR1 forum call often to get their IIN number, it's apparently a hit and miss thing as to whether or not the operator will give it to you.

That said I believe you have to wait until they actually generate the I-864 or DS-230 before paying online. So I would keep checking the auto system to see when one is generated and when you hear something has been sent I would try calling for the IIN number again.

Thanks. Its wierd, I just tried the NVC number he gave us and the automated system still says that there is no record. Hope something shows up soon.

Sly

Sly, we are very similar to you. We got our I-130 approved on Sept 12. I kept calling the 605 number for the NVC and using my receipt number and they kept saying that they had no record of my file. I was getting a bit sad and and resigned to the fact this was going to be a lot longer of a process than I was hoping for. Then I got the papers in the mail from the NVC with the AOS bill. (remember I was approved on Sept 12 and the paperwork sent to me from the NVC said Sept 24.) On the paperwork they give you the way to pay it online. It will give you a site and then you put whether or not you are the petitioner or the applicant and the case number and invoice number and you can pay it online using a routing and bank account number. Then it will take 1-3 days for it to show paid. For us we paid it Sept 30 and when I looked at it last night it said it showed PAID by Oct 1. Then you can go in and print out the cover sheet to send the I-864 and send it with supporting documents. (as you probably can tell, I am the US Citizen and he hasn't even received the DS 3230 yet, but I will be sending him my copy and having him sign it and send it in.) I hope this helps a little.

blessings,

Shirley
