You can go to "immigration timelines" and sort them like an excel sheet...that can give you a basic idea.

:)

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I don't believe countries of origin matter much. Hey...if they can let Iraqis and Afghanis in on expedite...(cooperation with US troops)

I sent out I-130 on Jan 28th 08, receipt dated Feb 16th, the I-129F receipt date is Feb 28th or so.

We were approved by USCIS on Aug 11th.

I think it's safe to say now that VSC takes their sweet time and you should count on full 6 months wait. The USCIS timeline for VSC is about 7 months which gives you a good idea for the upper bound since as soon as USCIS goes 1 month over the timeline you can and should call your senator/congressman/state rep and get them on your case. Before that do not even bother, you will get a canned "We're sorry we can not do anything because USCIS artificial timeline they set for themselves says you're not up for approval yet" response.

It's really a shame because east coast people are being thouroughly ####### e d (for the lack of a better word) by VSC. You will get mad when you look at the timelines of "whoohoo! approved" posts from CSC, but...there is nothing nobody can do, which is the worst feeling of all.

Take it one day at a time, don't make any empty promises. I spoke to an immigration lawyer a year ago when I was weighting all the options...the guy told me (this was in July or so, right around the fee increase) that K3 could take (this is in Texas! VSC!) as little as 2 months to get done and at worst 5-6, but around 3-4 months on average. Well...here we are, 8 months later, NVC case is closed, waiting for next week to get an interview scheduled.

I wish I could offer more cheerful advise...sorry, this is the reality of the situation. Take it easy, one day at a time, get your husband/wife to get some business trips to Pakistan on company's payroll, or take long vacations around the holidays together. That's how we've been getting through this time.

I disagree. They do look at the country you are from. My own lawyers told me that because my husband is Muslim and a young man that I'm looking at a much longer waiting period than others because certain groups are automatically put into a special security check group. There are 33 countries on that list. If your spouse is from that country or born in that country, they will automatically send it to the jttf division for special security checks. They say that it takes about an extra 6 months...my experience from my ex-husband was that it took much longer than that.

Unfortunately there's nothing we can do but wait...and make lots of dua!

We filed in January and got approvals in September. Almost 8 months. Still waiting for the embassy to send Packet 3, eid holidays and marriott bombing didnt help.

But on a positive note I dont think country of origin matters as far as USCIS approvals are concerned. It might be important at the interview, a lot of muslim men are put on AP at the interview.

Oh, wow! Then I feel even more crumby now than I did b4. I see no light at the end of this ******* tunnel. Why the **** do they keep us away from our spouse for an eternity? This is pure torture.

It's torture, but whenever I cannot handle another minute of it, I remember something my friend told me. She said, "If Allah didn't want you to be together, He would have never written for you to get married. It's just a test, be patient."

Easier said than done, right? LOL

If you're able to, the best thing to make the time pass by is to visit as often as you can afford to. That is the only thing that keeps me going, is looking forward to my next visit. At least it's something that I know is coming up sooner than our approval, so it's easier to wait for.

Maybe processing times change over the year. I remember when i applied in January processing times were much faster. As the months passed, they got slower.

So maybe when you apply makes a difference since I've read here other applications like work visas and naturalization visas slow down processing times for our visas. Lots of factors, dont give up hope.

I wonder where I can find the list of the 33 countries. Would be interesting to see what countries are included.

I tried googling the subject and couldn't find a list of countries. A lawyer for my ex-husband told us about that. He's the one that told me "There are 33 countries on that list. If you're from one of them, your file will be referred to jttf for more security checks." Of course, I'm sure the list is mostly middle eastern countries and probably pakistan, afghanistan, and egypt...anywhere with a large Muslim population.

I imagine we are in for atleast a 6-9 month wait at VSC give or take. I have seen people waiting over a year though, sadly enough. Let's all hold hands in prayer for speedy approvals Insha'Allah.
