I think in the main it was pretty superficial.

There's really no way to take you seriously, is there? The fact is you'll see the polls rise in the next few days.....She hit a home run!

OK folks... who won??

Biden.

Yeah I think so too. In terms of answering the questions, I mean.

She did what she was supposed to do - reassure the base & appeal to independents. The questions were meatballs, she had a set "program" as you called it - and dayum she stuck to it regardless of what question was asked :P

Did you notice that the moderator kept mentioning that they weren't really answering some of the questions?

Simply put, anyone who believes from that peformance that she has a handle any of the significant issues is as much of an idiot also, also, also, also, also...

Ahmadinejad's also mentally unstable and that's also dangerous, and highly diplomatic of her also to actually state that a spade is also a spade on a public stage. Never mind America, you'll learn to love those dulcit tones, also.

I also had a "huh" moment at that. Ahmadinejad might be representative of an unpleasant government - but mentally ill?

I think Biden did well to define the position of President in the context of the Iranian political system.

Don't know, maybe he is, but it's not exactly something a VP candidate should be saying on a public stage, unless she's let some cat out of the Bush bag and she knows darn fine Iran's going down. That was the one moment that I thought, ####, that women isn't just stupid, she's dangerous. Hopefully, that's just me having a 'consperacy theory' moment, but that's going to be a hot potato for the diplomats to handle.

I didn't get the feeling she understood the question about whether the vice president was part of the executive branch. I appreciated Biden's answer. I also appreciated Biden's restraint overall. He choked up when he talked about his personal tragedy, and I don't think anyone expected that, including Biden.

She made no sense 3/4 of the time, and kept bringing the topic at hand back to energy, which she is obviously more comfortable with.

He gave the appearance of confidence and experience and at least an aura of knowing what he was talking about.

Well I'm sure she made perfect sense to people that defend our freedoms by never surrenderring our surges to tax and spend politics of people that want to change.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Right from the very begining. Keeping score - I think Biden did answer more questions, he just winked less ;)

I heard tonight the inside-the-beltway denizen talking to a Main Street American.

Of course the pundits are going nuts because Palin did not make any gaffes they were looking forward to.

I see in her how a middle class American processes information and how they would respond.

Those of us used to Sunday morning talk shows will see her style quaint but she reminds me of Harry Truman.

Give her 6 months and you will be surprised what she can be.

Clearly, Sarah Palin won in style. She can strike ordinary Americans as a breath of fresh air different from all the elite discourse.

We'll see what the polls say in the coming days but I suspect McCain poll numbers may stabilize and perhaps even improve.

Biden ( I like this guy very much) met the expectation people have of a senator whose been in Washington for 36 years.. No more no less.

I have to say I'm really turned off when these people drop soundbites. I understand why they do it - but I can't help feeling that it insults the intelligence of the general public.

Ooh a ratings boost because "Personal Responsibility" was mentioned and "Tax and spend Liberals".

How someone talks isn't an indication of the quality of wisdom or political judgement that they have.

I heartily disagree. That "aw shucks, I'm just a newbie from Alaska, gosh darn it" routine did NOT cut it for me. Nor did it cut it for some of the registered Republicans that were in the CNN focus group interviewed after the debate.
