I am sick of the "maverick" speak. We freaking GET IT.

I would hate it too if I loved Obama the Socialist as much as you.

I don't love Obama, he is just my preference.

Does that mean since you do not seem bothered by getting the same tired old line stated in *every* interview, etc. you well up with joy? The woman has been programmed - and ramming that stupid line down viewers throats is getting old.

How bout the word change?

Paul-I forgot to mention that. Calling the leader of Iran "insane" was really not a good idea. Maybe you don't agree with his views, but implying he is mentally unstable when you are trying to run for VP of a country that puts a lot of work into forgien relations is ridiculous. Not one news agency I saw mentioned this at all.

Furthermore, no one said anything about her comment about "I'm just not used to the way you people in Washington do things or say things..." (to some degree, not a quote) What a stupid thing to say when she WANTS to become a part of it and the very party she is involved with is currently in power in...wait a minute...Washington.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

From what I heard and saw, Palin did OK. But considering that this is a tight race and she was brought in, it seems, to energize the Republican vote, 'OK' isn't enough.

She did what her party wanted her to do - repeat the points she had told her to and display her folksy charm, reminding the undecided why they were fascinated by her at the start. I doubt that she did enough, tho.

Biden sounded like he was talking from his head.. Palin sounded like she was just repeating things she had memorized..

I think Curic should re-interview her next week and see how much of what she memorized is still retained.

I doubt we'll see another interview before the election, at least not by the MSM. I think she'll stick to speeches.

A maverick is an unbranded range animal, especially a motherless calf; it can also mean a person who thinks independently; a lone dissenter; a non-conformist or rebel.

If you went to school, he was emphasizing the word so that the American people knows. It doesn't mean he has a lack of vocabulary. I'm sure everyone here does. We can't attack him on that.

LOL good thread, I guess the embassy would have luved if my husband said I will answer my own questions and ignore yours - WOW GREAT CONCEPT hmmmmmmmm not

We already know what could happen, didn't you see Green Card with Gerard Depardieu and how he got deported because he "memorized" everything about the fake wife??

Seriously, I truly feel that Palin was a shocker in terms of how people pictured her and specifically how the media pictured her. At the same time, I STILL don't think she is VP nor President material, maybe she is perfect for Wasilla or EVEN Alaska but not for the executive branch. We need, in this times of turmoil, strong leaders to veer this Titanic off the iceberg.

What people have to think is this: Do I really want HER as MY President? Moreover, Can SHE be MY President?

Forget about being a Demo or Rep, just picture it. See, I don't agree completely with McCain, including with his VP pick but heck, I could even digest him becoming President, BUT HER?? come on! She cannot even follow her own notes for god's sake! she was TRAINED, that's it. I want somebody that, of course, is going to make mistakes and have his/her successes but at least he/she can call them his/her own and take full responsability for these actions. We already have a puppet president and we can see the results already.

It's up to you...

i liked how at the end of the debate her children came on stage and she held her baby for about 10 seconds before palming it off onto another child. the husband paid no interest in it at all. what a lovely family.

I didn't see her palm the kid off. I thought the shots of her holding the kid and patting his/her back looked good for her, actually. More so than what she'd been previously saying.

It certainly is stupid when she patently ignored the questions about "whats wrong with Washington" that were asked at the outset. If she really were the great reformer that McCain is selling her as ("I can't wait to introduce/set loose/ unleash her on Washington") - why would she waste a big opportunity to push that part of the campaign platform?

It doesn't make sense.

Don't know, maybe he is, but it's not exactly something a VP candidate should be saying on a public stage, unless she's let some cat out of the Bush bag and she knows darn fine Iran's going down. That was the one moment that I thought, ####, that women isn't just stupid, she's dangerous. Hopefully, that's just me having a 'consperacy theory' moment, but that's going to be a hot potato for the diplomats to handle.

She and McCain, are dangerous, all they want is VICTORY, wake up, this is not a movie people, there are real people dying over there, screw victory let's fix this mess, and get the hell out of there, but he has his eyes set on IRAN next, AMERICA WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand all this seemingly arbitrary talk about victory and defeat - the Bush adminstration pushed that line, but they were the ones who created those conditions!

If we're supposed to be drawing a line under the current president - why is the Republican party still pushing the Bush administrations positions?

a daughter was holding it (i think bristol?), then palin kinda held it but it was just hanging there, no affection like from the first daughter, then she quickly gives it to another daughter who is barely big enough to hold it, who was very loving too. dad just stood by and didn't have anything to do with it. their family values are messed up. she does not represent the values of any women i know.
