Irritating as it may be - her informal language is all part of that carefully managed brand, as I said.

Essentially they're not gambling on her as a genius on policy issues. Essentially she needs it to get by.

Its risky - but it depends how much people are honestly swayed by such things. It would be a mistake to say it doesn't have its attractions.

i'm insulted that the republicans think that because i am female i would want to vote for this stupid troll

because i am female i want an informal, poorly educated woman as vp who wants to cuss at every moment but replaces it with stupid phrases like doggoneit so that it isn't offensive?

ya, because that's exactly how i am...? i don't understand why she was chosen at all. the way she treated her baby was nothing short of disgusting, who wants a bad mother for vp?

Would you vote for her if she had an abortion?

no. i think if she has a child she should love it, which she clearly doesn't. nice message to give to all those other people with children they don't want. ie, its ok to palm them off onto other people and ignore them. i thought she was selected because of her family values? nice values.

She doesnt love her child? What an idiotic remark!

I am sick of the "maverick" speak. We freaking GET IT.

Yes...but McCain thinks that Senator Obama(and probably, by extension the all of us that don't support him) "just doesn't get it". Ergo the repetition of the same line, over, and over, and over, and over, ad. nauseum.

it was horribly obvious that she had rehearsed all of her replies. she didn't answer one question with a relevant reply other than the one on gay marriage. she kept looking down and reading her notes because she had no clue what she was talking about. i am yet to find out how she and mccain will differ from bush. i started counting how many times she mentioned alaska or "my state", must have been over 10 times. imo, all the stupid things she would say like "doggoneit" and "darn right" exposes her for the unprofessional under qualified moron that she is. also, who is she to judge biden's comments by saying his joke was lame? she is the one with the lame jokes. i wanted to pull my hair out for the entire duration of the debate. :bonk:

We had a drinking game thread last night based on that very thing.

i liked how at the end of the debate her children came on stage and she held her baby for about 10 seconds before palming it off onto another child. the husband paid no interest in it at all. what a lovely family.

Ah... it's the stage.. her every move was most likely calculated.. perhaps it had to do more with the fact that there were microphones around and the baby can't be TOLD how to act (ie. fussing etc). I think it's a little over the top to judge their family life from a few brief moments you saw on TV.

I'm a little late on this thread but here are my two cents. I don't think she actually directly answered a question the entire debate. She regurgitated the same "I'm from Alaska" and "I'm an expert on Energy policy" statements over and over again.

All the articles and even NPR is saying she didn't look scared or intimidated by Biden. To me, it appeared she was nervous at the beginning for sure and therefore kept on saying "I just want to talk for a moment on the tax breaks.." etc. instead of answering the question at hand. They basically taught her a script of things to say that she rehearsed over and over again because she doesn't know any better.

Also, I thought the moderator was terrible. She asked a few questions that made my husband go "#######??" For example, the question on the "climate crises" and what they thought about it. IT was such a general, open-ended question.

Not impressed at all.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Pretty cold indeed. Alot of the hard core Omamacons take this same view.

yes, I do. and I also disagree with your analysis of that portion of the evening.

Calling a foreign leader mentally deranged isn't a gaffe. Amazing!

As if anyone thought she would have a 'deer in the headlights' moment under the 'dabating' conditions as they stood last night. It was obvious what the game plan was, to every question say anything, and say it convincingly and they rehearsed her on answers she could give if she wasn't really sure on the answers. What was significant to me was how often she used these fail safe memorized rotes.

Still, it seems like a lot of people just 'like' her and the fact that she hasn't a clue on any issues except some minor points that stem from her knowledge of life in Alaska doesn't seem troubling at all. Bah, humbug if that's what you expect from your politicians.

It was a bit of a strange (and inappropriate) thing for a public official to say. Next it will be how Putin is evil and a devil-worshipper 24 hours before a US - Russian summit.

That stuff on meeting unconditionally with Iran and Venezuela was weird too - totally didn't address why the McCain campaign is at odds with previous Presential advisors and former secretaries of state. She wouldn't even say that she disagreed with Henry Kissinger.

i am not talking about that evening solely. if you read what i said, i said it backed up everything i already thought about her parenting. lets see, a pregnant teenager and a career which is more important than her special needs newborn. these are not the family values of normal people.

I am sick of the "maverick" speak. We freaking GET IT.

I would hate it too if I loved Obama the Socialist as much as you.

I don't love Obama, he is just my preference.

Does that mean since you do not seem bothered by getting the same tired old line stated in *every* interview, etc. you well up with joy? The woman has been programmed - and ramming that stupid line down viewers throats is getting old.
