30 mins into debate me and hubby think Biden already won. Agree? Disagree? Lets discuss!

I haven't read this thread in it's entirety, but I was underwhelmed by both. I didn't think the questions were answered by either of them, rather they were reverbing the same stuff and going on about how fab their Prez candidate is. I really wanted to know where THEY stood as possible VPs. Maybe my expectations were too high...I dunno.

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Biden sounded like he was talking from his head.. Palin sounded like she was just repeating things she had memorized..

Thats what we felt too

And you sure it wasn't the mainstream liberal media telling you what to think?

not sure if you are being serious or not but I came to that conclusion all by my self :P

I think Curic should re-interview her next week and see how much of what she memorized is still retained.

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

biden won..but it was close..

palin did a fine job and came off personable and down home (probably her true personality)....biden a little stiff (probably his true personality) ..but on issues and answering questions i give it to biden..but palin has nothing to hang her head about..

A two term gov vs. 36 yrs in the senate is no match. Palin did good for the level she is at but this debate seems more like a PR stunt than anything. I agree it wasn't a debate, but more publicity time for the popularity competition. I've had to watch more interviews on the candidates then I care to admit and serious journalist ask the tougher questions and get the real responses from them. Try the 60 minute interviews if you want the real meat not this "debate"/debacle. bleh.

From this I observed that Palin is a party puppet and Biden has a mature wisdom.

There are loads of issues with either side. Personally I'd rather have a Harvard graduate for President when we're facing this financial crisis because of the connections this man is going to have with some of the most brilliant minds. I don't envy the person that gets elected with the mess they are going to have to navigate, nor am I looking forward to the work that we're all going to have to do now.

Actually, a one year Gov and who really cares? The appointed cabinet "offer" most decisions anyway. The Pres and VP are talking heads that follow the advice of their advisers. (National Security Advisor, Chief of Staff, Director of the CIA and so forth)......

Unless Bush was getting spectacularly bad advice from his advisors, and simply went along for the ride - I think it does matter. It wasn't lost on me, for instance, that those in his advisors who spoke against the wisdom of invading Iraq were quickly sidelined.

 I hope you are joking... if you think that the "mainstream liberal media" is beaming suggestions into people's heads you need to see a shrink! Like many others I felt that Biden had a much better command of the facts & Palin dodged a lot of questions by making very general statements and repeating the word "maverick" over & over.

Someone posted the CBS poll, which is dead on the money, which scored the opinions of non-committed voters. Republicans will say Palin won, Democrats will say Biden won, but the only group that matters now is the non-committed voter & more of them thought Biden won than Palin.

Palin’s Debate Performance Sponsored by Mad Libs™

Special Edition Game Helps Guv With Answers

In a precedent-setting case of corporate involvement in a nationally televised political debate, Mad LibsTM revealed tonight that it had sponsored Gov. Sarah Palin's answers in her vice-presidential face-off with Delaware senator Joseph Biden.

In exchange for the exclusive sponsorship, Mad LibsTM agreed to provide Gov. Palin with a special Mad LibsTM edition composed entirely of answers to vice-presidential debate questions.

"We are happy as a [kind of shellfish] to have sponsored Governor Palin's [synonym for idiotic] answers, which showed the American people just how [synonym for gigantic] a [type of ape] she is," said Mad LibsTM spokesperson Carol Foyler.

While Mad LibsTM refused to reveal the entire collection of answers they provided to Gov. Palin, they did offer one example: "I believe that if [synonym for evildoers] were found to be hiding in [name of country], America should take [synonym for strong] action to make certain that they don't [synonym for blow up] us."

Having watched Gov. Palin's performance in the debate, Republican presidential nominee John McCain said, "I'm totally [synonym for having had sexual intercourse]."

Check out the transcript - looking at it now I am struck by some of the answers.

The first couple of questions were basically about the partisan divide and the performance of Washington (specifically in getting together and passing the bailout bill). Isn't it odd that two campaigns who have made a centerpiece of how broken the Washington establishment is and how it is in dire need of reform fail to elaborate on that as much as toot the horn for how marvellous the presidential candidates are.

Palin won the personality contest, Biden won on policy.

And since being the second-in command is not about personality, but about policy...Biden won!

People are often swayed by personality. I think that's the thinking.

They'll buy into the image that Palin projects, not necessarily what she represents underneath.
