haHAHAH IMMIGRANT VISA PROCESS LOL WHAT A JOKE HONESTLY THE DORA PROGRAM OK IF YOU READ THE PRINT SAYS ITS SUPPOSED TO BE 90 DAYS TO PROCESS . YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR A WORK PERMIT BECAUSE YOU SHOULD GET A GREEN CARD INSTEAD HOWEVER THE 70 DAY LETTER GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT TO GET AN EAD CARD ON THE DAY .. BECAUSE THEY CANT PROCCESS MY CASE IN THE 90 DAYS THERE FOR I HAD TO PAY ANYWAY FOR THE EAD CARD.. SORRY FOR THE MIX UP THERE ,BUT THE DORA PROGRAM IS A FAST TRACK TO APPLYING FOR AOS IN THE DALLAS AREA.. ITS JUST ALOT OF PROCCESS THATS ALL .. WELL I AHVE TO TELL YOU ITS NOT BEEN A FREE RIDE NOR HAS IT BEEN SIMPLE TO FILE ALL THIS PAPERWORK ALONG WITH WAITING ..NOT THAT EASY ON SPOUSES AND KIDS AT ALL..

I've reached that realistic age where I have to choose between having fun and a heart attack :)

Ah, I see now.

Well, small consolation now, but you did have the easiest way ever available to you. And, if you'd wanted to follow the immigrant visa process you'd started, that was available too.

Sorry for your disappointments, but realistically, no one should've led you to believe it would be free, or easy :)

Its now coming to 6 weeks since we applied for the SSN but the twist of SSA delaying tacts grows everyday for us. Today,my wife visited with the SSA office,I think a regular there now,to ask about the progress, but its the same language, the USCIS hasn't responded yet. When she asked them whether they sent the request no one would give the right answer. Hypocrisy continues. We called the customer service today but were told to make infopass. We have made the infopass for next week. So those who get SSN in less than 6 weeks are lucky. She got the EAD in barely a month, and the AOS is just awaiting for the interview, but getting the SSN is so hard that,we donot know whether its a redtape or a demon working to please satan.

Seems to me that after about 3 weeks of waiting for a SS #, making an infopass appt and going down to enquire personally is the best bet. It worked for my husband. Waiting for an immigrant visa is a horrendous option- why should we be separated for a year due to red tape? A k-3 is faster, but it is still a nightmare. My husband should be able to work when he comes to this country to be with his pregnant wife without it being such a nightmare. And yes, we put in paperwork stating we could survive financially while we waited- because we HAD to in order to be together 6 months sooner.

See my timeline for all previous dates!

Naturalization:

6/28/09: Mail N-400 to Texas

7/6/09: NOA1

7/24/09: Biometrics

10/08/09: Interview

11/21/09: Receive oath date

01/22/10: Oath Date

With thanks to all the helpful people who made this journey slightly more bearable.

Why would an InfoPass appointment be the correct response to a problem with the SSA??? buzz17 needs to follow up with the SSA.

After 6 weeks of SSA delaying tactics,we finaly got an SSN today not the card. The SSA was piling blames on the USCIS for nothing. We checked with the USCIS and found out they received the request last week not on May 3rd as the SSA was contending each time we contact them. What I can say is,donot wait and wait, make the infopass and talk over, you would be surprised to know how the SSA is playing its redtape.

I would bet that was the second G-845 that got there after you complained. SSA may have sent one on May 3rd, but they don't check to see if it got there. Hopefully, when the process is automated is will speed things up.

Never has made sense to me that with fax machines and computers the G-845s are mailed back and forth.

Well heres a little twist to the ssn number .. Ok i applied about two weeks ago the office sent off the forms to the uscis and low and behold as I was taking my daughter in for her 10 day wait they tell me they didnt photo copy mine properly and they had to re submit it to the office LOL oh the lady goes "oh yes I seen that this morning I was going to call you" it was like 3.00 pm in the afternoon I wonder when she was going to call perhaps tommorow or the next week.,. Its a load of bs but I supose there is now another 4 week wait on the number .. I have to say its rediculous and yes i lost the cool composure that i normally have with govermaent agencies since this is my fourth trip in there to aquire one and to be still told no card no number no nothing no updates .. Still waiting on my number I guess my AOS will come first knowing my luck...

HI All,

On the subject of weeks to get a SSN, it took me 9 weeks and 2 days, i applied with all the correct paperwork but was told i wasn't in the save system yet so i asked them to manually verify things, which they said they would and it could take up to 4 weeks, i also received a letter in the mail stating this, so 4 weeks came and went, no card, 5 weeks no card and so on, after the 4th week i called and was told to call back a week later, i called and was told no response from uscis had been received, and to call back the following week, this went on for 9 weeks, calling every week, then on the 9th week when i called and kinda got a bit mad on the phone they said ohhh its here it will be mailed out to you, i received it a few days later.

It took a while but hey i got it lol
