Hello:)

To all who got married, been wondering of this:

did u change your handwriiten signature? In my hand written siganture, my last name is really readable. When i get married, should i change it to accommodate my husband's last name?Should i do that change when i sign in the marriage cert? and By the way, in the marriage license we got in Maryland, there's no space there so couple will sign after their marrriage. It is just the officiant whose signature is asked. Is this the way it should be?

Thanks for your replies.

Yes, since I now go by my married name, my signature has changed. Once we were married, I starting using my married name to apply for things, so that is all you need to do. if there are things in your maiden name that you want to change to your married name, you probably will have to show a copy of your marriage certificate to prove why you want it changed. if you decide to stay with your maiden name, and not take on your husband's last name, you can carry on as usual.

If there is no spot specified for you to sign on your marriage certificate, then you don't have to sign it.
