I get that a lot too, which surprises me "I love your accent, where are you from, Australia?"

I had one woman say to me once:

"What's a nice Irish girl like you doing here?"

"I'm not Irish."

"New Zealand?'

"No."

"Australia?"

"No."

"Scottish?"

"No."

"South African?"

"No!"

'German?"

"No." (was getting pretty exasperated by this point)

"What are you then?"

Sheesh!

I don't let people get that far. Most of the time the people I meet don't mean anything by it, and it's not like I can identify the different American accents either

By mean anything by, it's not some implied insult - they just don't know and sometimes they look disarmingly sheepish when you do tell them where you are from - some even apologize which I really don't think is necessary.

Lee Atwater and Karl Rove introduced lying at a major scale in the republican party. Lee got religion before he died and asked forgiveness from the people he ruined before dying. Should bring that up in the national news. Palin is only following suit and doing what she is told to do. She likes the TV coverage, but wonder if I should let my teenage daughter get pregnant if she becomes president and brag about it. She reminds me of my ex-wife in her manic behavior, feel she should be tested with a battery of psychology tests.
