how much time do you have to apply for the aos

hello all,

I was wondering how long you have to apply for your aos. The fees is 1,000.00 omg and I am struggling to pay bills. My husband just got a very part-time job. please any information would definetly help.

Im assuming you got married within the 90 day timeframe. So your good. With regards to AOS there's is no real time limit. SOme people have submitted it soon after they got married some even waited for years. If you don't want to be "out of status" for long its better you submit it early. MOst (like me) really need even at least the Work permit to get SSN, acquire state id, driver's license, then eventually apply for a job.

AOS & EAD TIMELINE:

July 21, 2008---(ORIGINAL) NOA1 for AOS & EAD

July 29, 2008---"WALK-IN" BIOMETRICS DONE (AOS & EAD-1)

Oct 14, 2008---EAD1 CARD ARRIVES! Approval date is Oct. 2, 2008

Dec 10, 2008---INTERVIEW DAY! APPROVED!!!

Dec 17, 2008---WELCOME NOTICE RECEIVED

Jan 9, 2009---CARD RECEIVED FINALLY! Approval date 12-10-08..expires on 12-10-10

REMOVAL OF CONDITIONS

Sept 10,2010---REMOVAL OF CONDITIONS

CITIZENSHIP

Sept 10,2011---Application for citizenship

thank you .. yes we were married within the 90 day period. We will apply for it hopefully sooner rather than later. I take he can not leave the country until he gets he aos.. we want to have an official marriage in morroco?

Yes he can't. But he can apply for Advance Parole together with the AOS application and AP got approved faster "most of the time" than AOS. So he can leave the country even if he dont have Green Card yet.

There's no official time limit but if the relationship ends and you never file AOS, the immigrant goes home.

My husband just got a very part-time job.

Since he's working without authorization, I think you may want to keep this kind of stuff to yourself until he gets his EAD.
