My fiancee had her interview, everything panned out and was told she could pick up her visa on Friday. I want to book her flight now, but want to make sure that her visa will be good when "picked-up". Everything, I've read so far says the visa is good at the time of issuance. Has anyone heard/experienced otherwise? The Visa is being picked-up in Bangkok.

Thanks!

I think you are thinking about the 'Visa Issued" date. Once she is issued the visa she should be ready to go because the "Visa Issued" date will be sometime before (or on) the day she gets it.

The visa is good from the date is it printed and affixed to the passport... It expires 6 mos. from the date of issuance... Its use must occur inside that "window" of time.

YMMV

Now, you have to shake the passport up and down for 5 minutes to activate the visa.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Make sure to hold it in your left hand, while standing on your right foot and patting your head with your right hand.

But what if:

The visa is issued the morning of October 4th in say, Korea, you immediately hop on a plane and fly to Seattle, landing on October 3rd. Is the visa valid since it has been issued in the future? B)

In that case you wait in the CBP area until midnight before riding your pumpkin to the desk.
