Hi Everyone,

Its great to see such a helpful web site, with an integrated community. I have been on

the lookout for sometime, before stumbling here via a cached post on google

To introduce myself, I am the beneficiary, based in Pakistan, I have just been filed for

by my Fiancee, K1 about 2 weeks back i.e. The I-129F... Both of us still waiting for

NOA1, have been looking around and havent seen anyone with a recent filing at CSC

in the brief topics that I have read so far.

Would like to get to know all of you, and for all to wish us luck and pray for us, as we

start our journey on the K-1 process.

Just about 2 questions I have in mind right now, them being;

a/ How do I add the time-based signature that I see in different posts, and

b/ How long does it usually or normally take for the NOA1 to arrive, its already been 2

weeks, so just thought to have experienced input on this :)

Thanks for the help, and looking forward to meet all of you :)

Did your fiancee USC send the I-129F materials certified with return receipt?

You'll both know when it was received by the SC by having tracked the delivery.

If your fiancee sent a USPS MO then the process of notification should be faster than a personal check.

The personal check needs to clear the banking process I believe before they notify you and begin to work on the petition.

A USPS MO is as good as cash and that's why it's best to use it instead of personal check.

If a personal check was sent, then two weeks is probably not enough time.

Then there's the matter of the USPS itself: different ZIP Codes have differing times it takes for mail to be routed.

I disagree. I used a check and it was cleared within 7 days of mailing and I received the NOA a couple days after that. I prefer checks to track as I can get pictures of front and back from my bank's website. (The back had the receipt number.) The MO is OK but tracking is harder in my opinion and USCIS doesn't care what you use. Good Luck

sassasdave: Thanks for the tip, worked perfect. Still keeping our fingers crossed, we have just started...

Larry and Maria: Yes. The receipt came three days after. So the petition is delivered allright. A check was sent, and as per the signatures of different pple here, there have been different timeframes even with a check, so still keeping our fingers crossed, hoping to receive NOA1 within the next few days (2/3 days)

motu: You have a point there... :)

wodengdaini: Further strengthens the fact.

Thanks for the tips guys n gals :) We'll keep everyone posted.

Hi Inspired...

If yours follows the same timeline as mine, I think you have a few more days to wait. I just filed mine with the CSC very recently so it might give some insight to you. It took 12 working days from delivery to when I received my NOA1 in the mail...which would make yours June 6th if I counted the days correctly. See my sig below for the dates.

This has just started and already I'm getting impatient. Anyone have a time machine or something?

Good luck!

04 July 2006 - Touched

Fiancé(e) I-129F Petitions Recalled by DHS

UNCLASSIFIED STATE 00077044

P 121528Z MAY 06

FM SECSTATE WASHDC

TO ALL DIPLOMATIC AND CONSULAR POSTS COLLECTIVE PRIORITY

SUBJECT: FIANCÉ(E) I-129F PETITONS RECALLED BY DHS

1. Summary: The International Marriage Broker Regulation

(IMBRA) was signed by the President January 5th of this

year. A 60-day deadline, March 5, 2006, was established

for DHS to begin asking K-1 fiancé(e) petitioners for

their criminal background information. DHS did not meet

the deadline for collecting additional information. Some

petitions filed after the deadline were approved in error

under the old procedures and sent through the National

Visa Center (NVC) to posts for processing. Approximately

1100 cases went to 95 IV-issuing posts. Posts are

preparing to return these cases as quickly as possible to

NVC. End Summary.

2. While most K-1 cases under the new IMBRA requirements

were held at the service centers pending development of a

new form I-129F, some cases were processed after March 5

using the old forms and procedures and sent to posts for

processing. The DHS Service Center Operations (SCOPS)

Unit of USCIS, Status/Family Branch requested that posts

return to NVC all K1 I-129F petitions with priority dates

(date received at the DHS office) on or after March 6,

2006.

3. NVC was able to run a data base list of all petitions

meeting these criteria. We have notified those

posts that have received these cases and given them the

case numbers and further instructions. All cases on this

list, even those with firm appointments or in 221(g)

status, are to be delayed while the petition is returned

for further information. No cases in issued status will

be recalled. If posts have any question about the correct

priority date of the K1 case, they should use the priority

date (receipt date) written or stamped on the original

petition. DHS has not requested return of K3 or K4 I-129F

petitions.

4. The Department presently has no information about the

extent of delay for these cases. In the meantime DHS will

send additional questionnaires to the petitioners

inquiring about their possible criminal backgrounds. When

the petition is compliant with the IMBRA, it will be

returned to post from USCIS through NVC for processing.

5. The Department understands the additional workload of

this process and the public relations demands of

responding to disappointed petitioners and beneficiaries.

We recommend that questions be addressed directly to USCIS. The USCIS customer service number is: 800 375 5283.

Now beeee nice motu. heh heh.

Legally I'm sure you're right. I don't think they have any legal means to delay a petition because a personal check was used.. (as long as it is a legal monetary instrument in the usa in us dollars).

I think what was being conveyed is the idea is that it's just a little safer to use an instrument that's already been paid for such as a money order, cashiers check, bank check, certified..etc...

After screwing up my own aos I was so po'd I paid 18 bucks for 4 separate certified bank checks, (aos, aos, ead, biometrics), and I am 100% certain (unless the bank goes bankrupt!!! :innocent: ) that those bank checks will clear and will never cause me a problem. Now if I had used my checking account and got more stupid and lost my atm card, or someone ripped off my checkbook and rapes my bank account....

which would cause a personal check to bounce, then there would be a definite problem. (You know there's actually a thread around here somewhere about someone worried about the funds in his account and when the checks will hit the bank!)

Yikes!

So... there's a certain degree of personal insurance for $18 that I can live with and while I gave up the ability to determine if they've been cashed (via the traditional tracking means), I'm happy that they'll definitely clear regardless of what happens to me!
