Hi VJ,

Do you remember I had a poster for my friend, troubled by flea and terrible life in Georgia with her fiance?

Okey, they finally didn't work out. My friend returned to China in September 10. Anyway the good thing is he didn't kill her and bury her in his big farm, instead of buying her airtickets and returned to China.

She had a chat with HongKong woman on the airplane. That Hongkong lady is living in Georgia for about 10 years, and knew something about southern part of Georgia. She told her there are many people or slaves are killed in southern part of Georgia per the histroy and records. The persons there owned farms, and they bought many slaves working for them, whipping them, etc etc and they did not have education,,,,,

So my friend said i am lucky he didn't kill me and bury me under a big tree of his farm.

all the chinese were beaten and burried shallow graves in early years of America were receive this treatment in california, and on the intercontinental railroad, mostly west the rockies, sweetheart. long way from georgia.

hong kong people like many chinese people. they only know America from violent American movies so popular here in china. then again, hong kong movies really violent, too, usually make women victims of evil men. maybe it a slight exaggeration of the true hong kong culture?

i have big farm in pennsylvania, but only family members of past owners and few old dogs burried there, to my knowledge. my wife recently enjoying my military style guns collection and learning to drive the farm tractor backhoe, so maybe a lao-wai will be bury there soon?

seriously, on first date she promised when i was too old walk, or read, or handle my own life (like 60, she suggest), she will kill me to prevent me suffer. over steak dinner in luoyang i ask her how she plan do this? "with fork and knife, of course," she says. probably that dinner first time she use doy char, instead qui zu.

i am sure your friend much happier in china.

OK, this is one of the nuttiest posts I've read outside the Off Topic forum. I'm not implying that you're a nutter or anything, but that lady from Hong Kong sure sounds like one. I fail to see the connection between living on a farm in southern Georgia and having a desire to kill and bury one's wife/fiance. Then there's the whole slavery thing, which is REALLY irrelevant. What IS relevant is that obvious these two people were having serious problems, and your friend wisely decided to return to China rather than live for many years in misery. I know a guy from upstate New York who had the same situation, and his fiancee returned to Vietnam. It doesn't matter where you're from, it matters what you do, and how you act.

I dun think this is about the Hong Kong culture, it is just one of individual with their illiteracy about America. In fact, being a HKese I can tell you most of the horror movies here are from America, Korea and Japan and very few from local :P . Lots of ppl enjoy what they watch and know they're only for entertainment :D . Talking about farm, I'm sure there are a lot of them in China too so I can only say danger can be happened everywhere but not only in US.

I'm glad OP's friend went back home safely and maybe she should look it as a lession: Get to know someone inside out before talking about marriage.

Good luck with your friend
