Cussing, why people cuss?

I personally do not cuss, the reason why I post this maybe I guess I am just bored and sleepy at work. I am asking the Moderator to forgive me for posting this but I am just curious for the views of different people..

We sit in an office where the tables are too close to one another, I am having headaches hearing cuss words/phrases from my female co worker everytime she talk.. I wonder why people cuss and used MF, #######,F, S..ahole,

I think when you are mad, it is okay to say something bad, but when you talk and all you say is cuss for every sentences that came out your mouth, it is not normal..

What do you people think about cussing? Do you really enjoy cussing?

Just to piss off the morally superior I guess. Shiiit, I dunno nuttin about no cussin.

But what's even lamer than cussing is people playing at cussing. You know what I'm talking about.....

"oh, #######!" instead of "oh, ####!"

"oh, fudge!" instead of "oh, ####!"

"oh, jimminy crickets!" instead of, "jesus ###### christ"

"oh, little johnny's dog made a poop on my shoe!" instead of "your ###### dog just dumped on my brand new shoes, #######!"

The meaning is plainly clear - and some how the content is cleaner because you chose some words over others, in a belief that it makes it all better now?

In the words of a famous cusser, give me a fuckin' break.

i understand if you accidentally say something like this when you encountered something by suprise.. But cussing in every sentence, or any topic that my co worker discuss about, arent you going to be tired? .. just wondering.. not posting an argument.

I hate hearing the way some people talk these days. I guess I just don't understand the need to interject profanity into everyday speech. For me, it draws my attention away from the point being made and makes me focus on how uncomfortable I feel hearing those words.... and then I start analyzing why those words are being chosen instead of hearing what the person has to say. (For those who are about to flame me.... I'm referring to everyday conversations where the f bomb is dropped for seemingly no reason...... not in high-charged situations where it would not seem so misplaced.)

if you wanna hear some creative cussing.. work in construction.. my top phrase so far..

It may not be normal for you, and it wasn't normal for me long time back. But I guess it just come to existence as we grow old and how our surrounding is.

One gets out of their sheltered life and I think this transition happens when you are in your college and away from parental/family pressure. I am not sure if it becomes cool or it just becomes a habit. Is it bad or is it good, I don't know. These are just words, yes words can be powerful but I don't think these mean any harm when lightly used.

I think it's like any other language -- there's good times to use it, bad times to use it.

I tend to use it for emphasis, and it sometimes helps make people think, by offending them.

These guys tend to use it pretty well.

However, I was more than protective when helping raise my ex's daughter that anyone who wanted to swear in front of her (she was 5 and 6 years old) would get a fist in their teeth.

No.... I think we need to know what a cold joint is. At least I do.

a cold joint is when you're pouring lets say, 2 trucks of concrete, and there's a big gap in between.. the 1st load starts to settle, so when you get the 2nd truck, it's really hard to mix with the first load.. and it's not good..

In the end, they're all just words. Usually, they are more descriptive words than the "accepted" terms. As for me, I hate euphemisms. I hate contorted, cautious language. As mentioned earlier, people who "Cutsie-Cuss" with their stupid-arsed sayings like "Oh shoot! I've severed my hand. Fudge that hurts! Can someone please call for an ambulance?" just seem unnatural and wrong. It's like they're censoring themselves.

I've often wondered why certain words have such *power* over people. Is it the sound of the word itself? Of the following three words, the technical term sounds more offensive to me than the more common term, while the cutsie-cuss one sounds like a 6 year old term. Sh!t - Defecate - Poop

Don't even get me started on female body parts. The 'proper' terms are a sure mood-killer for me.
