I have no idea what it is here today but I have the fan on full blast and slept with the ac on 69. Hotflashes suck.

Happy Thursday!! It's my Friday since I am taking the day off tomorrow....due to the problem below....

Wow I guess I am lucky....slept with my windows open last night in my room...and yea it was a little chilly esp being all alone

I live in Delaware and its fairly mild through October....we will need the heater though I am sure before the end of the month.

I woke up this morning to see that the large "hump" that I discovered 2 weeks ago in my family room floor has now doubled in size. Its in an addition family room and now about a foot away from the first one there is another one developing. It is appearing next to a wall that is facing outside. This is something under the good carpet, good thick padding and wood parquet flooring. Something is pushing it up!! I step on it and its not giving like its soft so I am thinking whatever it is is under the wood parquet floor too..... It is about 3/4 of a foot wide and about 2 feet coming out from the wall. The big one is now about 4-5 inches tall and growing. I haven't pulled up the carpet yet to see what it is...I am terrified. I asked my son to crawl under the house today and take a look....I have a pest company coming tomorrow to take a look...anyone have any ideas on what this might be? No signs of termites.....and to add a strange twist...when I looked at it last night and this morning it had a bunch of (dead) bugs in the corner of where this is happening...probably 60 of them..and they look like the gray bugs you see when you pick a rock up from the ground and they are under the rock living. Well...somehow they got involved and crawled in and died there...or is it their nest thats under there? eeeewwww...I have no idea...all I know is its freaking me out and I am scared to pull the carpet back to look...I have to wait until someone that can deal with it is onsite...and thats not me..haha...I have been alone in this house for 7 years and have conquered all types of home owner type issues...this is the strangest and most perplexing. What is it???????

Any ideas are welcome....I am taking the day off tomorrow to meet the pest company there and having my dad come over to help me with whatever it turns out to be. eeewwwwwww I hate bugs!! If thats what it is...I can't think it could be anything else.

So...Happy Thursday to all...and let me know if you have ever seen anything like this before!!

Flooring Specialist to the rescue..........

Ok, you have carpet, pad, parquet then the original decking. I have seen wet parquet come a foot off the floor. Sounds like you have a leak somewhere. The wood under the carpet/pad is warping and in a major way. Find your leak. The floor,,all of them,,must come out and don't wait too long. Wood, water and dirt create mold/mildew. Get it out and sanitize with a bleach water mixture. On standby for further floor discussions

Deb you know I'm in Delaware too and I'm working in a construction office.. I just asked the guys here and one of them said the same as Jackie that it sounds like water, but the other said it sounds like an infestation and that they are building a nest of mud and such under there -He suggested termites or those little weird looking bugs that look like they have no back legs, they kinda drag alone or something... which could explain why it's doubling in size and not really moving when you stand on it. I hope that you get it worked out soon! You can come stay with me if you have to run away LOL We have to get together soon!

Today is the big day for my campaign to restore civil rights today; I have to keep telling myself, tomorrow, you will be done, just hang on, just one day of work and then it is done. I don't know about the rest of you, but I could sit on my butt and work on my home and just stay home, and be very happy. This career ####### is not me at all, lol, I had to get the only modern Arab that thinks it is wonderful to work on what I do. I can't imagine what he tells the other guys he works with, Hey Hesham what your wife doing, oh she is busy recruiting felony's, also I am starting a new one with the death watch, one of my colleagues, is working on the Troy Anthony Davis case, the State of Georgia is going to executed him, he just got a stay, for he was scheduled on September 23, so now it is in the supreme court and we get the decision on Oct 6, so if you are against the death plenty, just check the story out and we can use all the support we can get. Once again I would be just happy sitting home watching a little TV, housework and doing some internet games, cooking, and nothing more to worry about than what I will make for dinner. Damn how I dream of the days.

It does feel good to have a date, even tho it is 2 months away. (5 paychecks, 9 weeks, 1463 hours) The night before his interview I am sure to be a pacing, arrow-slinging bundle of stress.

Have fun Terrie! Take pics of the trees, ok? I bet it will be beautiful. Some of our trees are starting to turn colors. How 'bout out by you Kelly?

Thanks Jackie and Ash .....I appreciate your ideas...and I am thinking along the same lines.....gosh...I can't wait for Esmat to get here so he can be in charge of all this stuff....I can see wood swelling like that because it is very porous..and it is wood frame, wood sub floor, wood parquet....and it was looking so pretty when I had the carpet laid 2 years ago.

No matter where you are in the world you will probably be able to hear me scream when my dad pulls up the carpet tomorrow morning...hahaha!!!! I will be screaming for one of two reasons....1) BUGS OR 2) $$$$ Realizing the expense to fix this. Whatever it is...I can tell the floor is ruined and will definitely need to be replaced.....around that area anyway..oh boy.

I can't stop thinking about it....

wooohoo Jackie, thats awesome..just 3 days after my birthday!!! hoow exciting..when sofyan and i were doing "the countdown" it was 82 days and we made a chart and each night X'd off a day...it was something nice to do...and, i kept the chart for memories

hehehe kelly, I already made a chart at my desk to X off the days! I hope when he comes home we can meet you and Sofyan for dinner. His interest in finances tho might make you crazy!

He's all in a puff these days over some investment company in Jordan taking money from people and now they lost their money. I told him to study The Great Depression and now he's ALL over that!
