I live on the west coast. I understand that CR1 interviews are only done in Montreal. Would it be reasonable to expect that my 17 yo child would be interviewed with me or would I quite possibly have to go to Montreal twice? :crying:

Secondly, the costs have been compared between K3 vs CR1 but how do they compare for 2 people, myself and my 17 yo?

I don't find a lot of information regarding older teenage children and all the hoops that need to be jumped through.

I am assuming that I have to file an I130 for 17 yo along with AOS if I go K4?

Thanks in advance. VJ rocks.

If going CR-1 you file 2 I-130s one for parent, one for child. If going K-Visa you can defer filing the I-130 for child until AOS.

Note CR-Visas have the advantage of Green-cards on entry NO waiting for EAD or AOS, also CR-Visas cost less.

Yes, I understand that. At some point I130's need to be filed for both, whether CR1 or K3/K4. The green card and no AOS is really appealing to me.

Sounds like the AOS is a more trying process than the CR1 or K3.

The AOS fees for both of us are twice as much then obviously?

My biggest concern is having to go to Montreal twice, that would really bite. Any thoughts on that, from any other VJ members?
