you should definitely bring copies of everything in case they have misplaced anything that way you have it at your finger tips. what we did was bring the originals and copies for the file in case they wanted to compare the original against the copy of anything we submitted.

Hey Canadianmade, sorry I was a little busy with work and stuff, so I didn't get a chance to post sooner.

I know you'll be approved. Just watch out for that CRIS email that will tell you "Card Production Ordered". Yes, you had a grumpy officer, but nothing in what you said is a reason to deny your application, so hang in there my friend until the good news find their way to you.

You will get your Green Card, be sure of that :star:

Hey Rosie thank you so much for posting and I understand you are very busy with work and stuff, I appreciate the comments and I hope all turns out well. My wife and I are stressing and panicking but I think at the end it will be good.

Hey Canadianmade,

That stinks dude. I'm sure it's just a grumpy old f8ck like I got at my Embassy interview - the woman who collected all the papers was nasty. But we got through and so will you.

Back in 1995 I won a greencard in the lottery and came to the US for a few months - but my heart wasn't in it as my kids were so small and my Mum had just died so i returned to Ireland only to meet Mercedes 10 years later. I'm sure that that will be brought up in the interview - they had the original greencard stuff in my folder during my London Embassy interview. And did you all know, they used to call Portland, DePortland? Airlines stopped flying to Portland from Asia as business people were being sent back on the next plane, famously known as the worst immigration officials in the US. Anyway, as the city was loosing money as a result they launched an inquiry into it and sacked a bunch of people. All the guys they sacked for being too strict are now working in USCIS I'll bet.

I was thinking when I was reading about denials - which you won't get - they are always based on immigration fraud, right? Seriously though, why would anyone from a developed country such as Canada or Ireland or the UK want to come to the US (the legal way anyway) when they could stay home and work and contribute for the 3-6 months that we have all waited for our EADs. Our life got immeasurably harder as a result of moving to the US and we are down to one (lower) wage as Mercedes is at Law School. Plus, the price of living is much higher here. I ####### you not, if it wasn't for love I wouldn't have done it in a million years.

Anyway, I'm getting wound up about getting an interview already when 99% of K1's get no interview. By St Paddy's Day I'll be a walking car wreck.

R

PS We lived with each other for 3 years in Ireland before coming here so that's why I refer to us moving here.

Hey Eli thanks alot for your responses and yeah you are absouetly right, I am from a developed country as you stated, where I used to live in Canada, Toronto to be exact is only 4.5 to 5hrs away by car, and plus the only reason I came to the US is for love and to be with my wife that I love so very much. Wow thats an interesting story you shared Eli, how did you find out about the green card lottery and what did you do when you came here on it? That is so crazy what you said about Portland wow very interesting story. I bet those people now work in USCIS. The way the interviewer was acting was, just because I didnt have stamps in my passport, I could of possibly sneak over the border and I wasnt inspected, that is totally impposible to do and also I have a valid passport so why would I try to sneak over the border. It was just totally messed up the whole situation, it felt like a stokes interview without being asked personal stuff and it might as well been a one on one interview. Thanks for sharing your story my friend and as I said I wish you good luck on your interview and hope you dont get a ####### as an interviewer. I will let you know what happens.

Hey guys, this is Canadian Made's wife, I'm going to jump in:) Here's how our interview experience went today.

Well, first, the interveiwer was very old and very procedural, so it seemed like she has been doing this for a long time.

She had a very soft voice and was hard to understand her and she also had accent, so it was hard to understand her.

We got asked the usual questions like, our names, our address, how and when we met, when we got married and where, who proposed to who, asked us to see wedding pictures, asked us who were the people in the pictures, asked me questions on the I-485 and G-325A form, stuff like that.

She just didn't seem to like any of our answers. I will give you a couple of examples.

Interviewer: "What assets do you guys have together?"

Me: "We have a joint checking account. We filed taxes jointly. He is my life insurance beneficiary of 120,000.00, and I cover him on my health insurance."

Interviewer: "When did you open this account?"

Me: "A few months ago."

Interviewer: "And how long have you been married?"

Me: "Almost a year."

Interviwer: "Why did you wait so long?"

Me: "I havn't even had a bank account for about ten years. I don't like them or believe in them, but my husband wanted us to have one, so we opened one, and I told him to manage it and he has and we havn't bounced anything."

That is the truth, but it didn't seem to please her.

Interviewer: "Have you taken any vacations together?"

Canadian Made: "No we havn't"

Interviewer: "Why not?"

Me: "We were saving money for the immigration process."

Canadian Made: "We will be going to Canada after I get my green card. That will be our first vacation together."

Again...this didn't seem to please her.

It was like, if we couldn't go to Paris or buy a boat together, it just wasn't a valid marriage. It was rediculous. We are so valid we make people around us sick...lol. Unless I'm at work or school, we go EVERY WHERE together. There is a new song out that's called lucky, and the lyrics say "I'm so lucky to be married to my best friend." A mutual friend of ours said that when she hears that song she thinks of us, and yet here we are trying to prove we are in love. This is so awful.

Another confusing part was that 95% of the questions were directed at canadian made. This was even a problem at first because we did not know that if she was looking at one us when she asked the question, that one could be the only one to answer. We ARE a married couple and like alot of us, one of us is the spokes person and that's me...lol. Well, when she asked my husband a question and I went to answer for him, it was the first and only time I did this, she said "He must answer, and you should move away from him so he feels more independent from you," She actually made me sit a chair away from him during the entire interview:(

It just seemed like we rubbed her wrong from the beginning and we have no idea why, and like we didn't answer any questions the way she wanted us to.

The last thing that happened was she got up, walked to the door, opened it and said, "If we have any other questions, you will be notified by mail." and we walked out:( We have no idea what to think.

Word of advice to those who have upcoming interviews is to prepare and prepare for anything and everything, you just never know, we were well prepared, but the IO asked alot of really irrelevant questions. The whole interview lasted for about 25min, so we are waiting to see what happens. What do you guys think?

Sorry yall didnt have the nicest person but hey atleast yall were seen. A few have barely even gotten their biometrics appt done and I think some havent even done that. Maybe she was having a bad day or jealous? Or prehaps didnt like that you didnt say anything negative like she was looking for a mess up and since yall nailed it she was grumpy? Hell if I know some people are just "meanies". (without saying a "bad" word haha) Everything will be fine though dont worry. I think your answers that you posted were fine and on point. Very well explained and a hell of a lot better than I would have done for sure. I know I will screw it all up cuz I get nervous easily.

Hey **Love** thanks for replying and thats ok, I guess it was the luck of the draw. I dont know what was up with this woman, but holy she was an ####. I think you are right what you said, I dont know all I know is, it was messed up and I do hope everything works out for us both in the end. Thank you and glad the experience was clear and helpful to you. Let let you know what happens when I hear any updates.

How did you find out about the green card lottery and what did you do when you came here on it?

I was working as a green keeper on a golf course on Long Island on minimum wage. Anyway, I left the US and went back to Ireland and got my FREE degree and masters. I actually found out about the Green Card lottery results the day my Mum died - the postman brought the yellow envelope that day.

If you mean how did I find out they had my previous application, they had it in my file when I was at the window for my Fiance visa interview. The lady who took all my forms etc of me that day asked me about it and was kinda rude too about my reasons for not staying in the USA.

F8ck it, we'll both be fine my man.

Oh ok very cool and interesting story Eli, I mean you mentioned your mom passed away and very sorry for your lost by the way, and plus you had youngs kids, so I think that is more than a legitimate excuse to go back to Ireland, in my humble opinion, and that is so crappy the lady you had for your K-1 interview was giving you flack about you leaving the US for good reasonable reasons, anyone in that situation would.

Thanks alot my wife, I do hope I do get that green card and I know you will be get approved.

And now for some good news of our own...

Finally EAD AND AP ARE APPROVED! :star::dance::star::dance:

It took 102 days, but on Jan 27th we received the email that we were approved for both. I saw a few other folks were approved the same day, so good work to whichever adjudicator busted out some serious paperwork that day! hehe

Rosie, you can check us off that list! And to those still waiting, calling USCIS for a Service Request seemed to help us. They said we would hear something within 15 days and we were approved in 10. Just an idea...

Thanks to all who sent their thoughts and kind words! AOS here we come!

I was wondering -- did you see any movement in your file on USCIS between the time you put in your service request and the time you were approved? It's just getting so frustrating to go on the site and see the same dates --- on our AP the only date is when they received it and on the EAD, its just after the biometric. We put in a service request last Thursday!

I think service request can help you a lot because once you placed a service request, somebody will look up your applications.....I put a service request for my EAD on Jan 28 and my EAD and AP were approved on Feb 3....The reason for the service request was "approaching regulatory time frame"..... I have no idea if my EAD will approve without putting a service request.....
