I'll be at Social Security on Monday and the DMV as soon as I get a new social security card, lol.

Hey Kimcorene, do you change your SS card so the "work only with DHS authorization" will not appear anymore?

I have my EAD, but I never thought of changing my SS card, so I am just wondering...

We have to get the green card first and then apply for a new social security card without "only valid with INS authorization" . W e can't do it with just the EAD.

Some people keep the old social security card..my brother did when he got his green card..he never bothered getting a new social security card... cuz the green card is already identification..and the social security number is just a number, it does not say what your status is, as far as being an alien, citizen, permanent resident etc... i could tell y'll stories, i got friends who work permits expired years ago and have big jobs.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Timeline
Our 90 days since filing is up this next week. We got the A/P Travel Document and nothing else. Not even a Biometrics Appt. letter. We phoned to find out why and they said call us back in 45 days if you haven't rec'd the appointment letter yet!!! :o

We made an Info Pass Appt. for next week. Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done to move this process ahead? I read somewhere that after the 90 days is past you can ask for a Temp EAD from the local office, but I can't find that info anywhere (now that I need it!)...

90 days and still no Biometrics Appt. seems toooooooo slow...

Thanks for any info...

Congrads on getting your AP approved Karamella, and inregards to your EAD and Bio appointment, you need to make an infopass appointment and put in for a service request for your EAD and Bio appointment. Good luck to you in the rest of your process.

Good suggestion... we did make an Info Pass Appointment (takes weeks here to get one normally) and I also contacted my Congressman's office and his assistant (with in 2 business days of contacting him) had us in getting the Biometrics done! They said they had scheduled the biometrics Appointment for Feb 10th but we've never rec'd any notice of this appointment.. He was able to call the office who do the biometrics and arrange for us to fill an open slot on an unexpectedly snowy day when they had cancellations.... (we took NOTHING with us, but our case number, and she found everything else needed in their data base)...

On Tuesday after the biometrics were done and we had celebrated we came home to find an email that had arrived while we were gone stating his EAD had been approved on January 2nd and the "card is in production"... Go figure..

The Congressman's assistant said we have another "appointment" scheduled related to the I-485 application, and a letter was mailed to us on the 26th of January, but again, we've never rec'd it either... (and no we've never had a change in address and our mail comes through just fine all the time...)

So I called him back and he promised that he will have the date and time of whatever "appt." (I assume it is the interview) for us by Monday. Just in case I've rescheduled our Info Pass Appt. for next Friday if we still haven't rec'd their letter, or a return call from him.

I have no idea how they could say we can't have the EAD until the Biometrics are done, and then say the EAD was approved January 2, we have the biometrics on Jan 27 and the same day they say the card is in production... Oh well, who cares, now we just sit by the mail box each day...

Thanks for your support!

Oh!Ok! That makes more sense!! I applied for my SS card after my wedding, so I didn't need to change my name on it.

Like you were saying SweetnSexc, it is just a number, so I don't think I will bother to change what's written on it. With my DL, soon GC and passeport, I think I have enough IDs!! :P

Anyways, thanks you guys for your quick answers!!

Good week-end! :)

I just got a letter from the USCIS saying we have an interview on March 17th at 11am.

You know, I nearly could have bet money on it being that date. We will be in Portland anyway for St Patrick's Day and it will be one year to the day after we got our K1 NOA2. God that seems so long ago now.

I'm surprised we got an interview this late in the day but here's hoping it goes smooth. There is a lot of stuff to gather now. Wish us luck and all the best to the new EAD people. Happy Job Hunting.
