AOS FILERS: OCTOBER 2008

We are home, and the interview was an absolute piece of cake!! She asked for very few documents (only things we had as a couple) and our Id's. She only asked both girls the very basic of questions...your full name, birth date, phone #, and the "did you ever" questions that you see on the USCIS apps... (been arrested, do drugs, use anyone else's ID, say you were a US citizen). She never asked about our life, pictures, anything. We waited maybe 15 minutes to get it, and the whole interview for both girls took 15 minutes. I think she liked the looks of us, and that was enough for her. Overall a very stress free experience, and the girls are very happy that it is all finally over (at least for 21 mos.!) Good Luck to everybody else!!

Congrats i'm very happy for all involved. I'm hoping that although we got our new interview date that they will still take us next week as the wait is just killing me.

We were all dressed very well. I think it makes a big difference, and I would recommend this to all who are interviewing.

11/18/08 (Day 28)- Request Evidence is I94 sent along with I20,( I was a student), NON immigrant visa page on the passport, also, approval letter of F1 status, because i changed my status after i came to USA.

OMG!!! I'm sorry I haven't been able to congratulate everyone on fresh EADs, APs, SS cards and Driver's Licenses, so congratulations to everyone!!! And special congrats to the first interviewd couple!!!

Me and hubby are stuck using one computer for now because his broke and its tough! He goes to school full time online and I search and apply for jobs any time I get to use the computer so email and entertainment is temporary on hold.

So I went to the RMV today to get my permit. The line was horrendous of course. After over an hour wait, my number was called and I showed all the i.d stuff I had - one of them being the NOA with my address on it as proof of residency. When I saw the woman get her manual out I knew I may be in for trouble! She told me that since the NOA's and EAD are all from USCIS, that it doesn't count!!! I never heard anything so ridiculous! I looked at her like she was crazy and she asked me if I had a utility bill...I give her letters addressed to me from the Department of Homeland Security and she wants a light bill?!!! Anyway, all that to say that she finally let up and allowed me to use the marriage certificate as proof of residency AND I guess, D.O.B. I breathed a sigh of relief when she gave me my slip to go and take the written part of the test. I did it, and by the skin of my teeth passed it. my thoughts to you all that have to get your license? Get the book, flip through it to find all the information that does NOT seem relevant - then study that!!! I say that I only just passed it because the majority of my questions were to do with Junior operators and since I am not one, I felt it okay to skip over that section! Good job I at least have an ounce of common sense, which came in handy today! So now I have my permit and need to get a road test and I'm good to go!

Oh, I'm so feeling you with proof of address!!! They made me go home 2 times because in addition to the letters from USCIS they also don't accept credit card bills and print outs of bank ststements and utility bills (we receive it all online aka "go green"). So, october filers, make sure you bring original utility bills or bank statements or lease/property agreements when go apply for license.

Other then that I was in and out DMV with new license in 20 minuets!!! wow, I was in shock myself! I was renewing car registration for over 2 hours the least in the past!

It is very interesting how things turn out..... I received my EAD today, contacted my consulting firm and I was offered an IT position in a different state... (Four hours away from where I am) I am so torn on whether I should accept it or it or not considering I do not have the GC interview yet..... the pay is freaking awesome , the seventy something days I have been without a job will be paid off in a couple of months... My hubby supports my decision and thinks I should accept it.. How will it look to USCIS???

There are so many things I should consider... the hiring freeze etc...... what to do people?

I think you should accept it. If your husband is relocating with you there then I'm sure USCIS won't have any problem with that.

WOO HOO! I'm first-so far. Package sent today via USPS Express, will get there tomorrow. Wait, does that mean mine will be in the bottom of the box? , lol.

I see its been three months since you filed for AOS and according to your timeline, you dont have the EAD yet. If after three months from date of filing you dont have it yet, you make an infopass appointment and they will grant it imediately!! Call USCIS and cross check.
