No word yet on my EAD but I was wondering. As soon as you get approved can you go back to work? I had a 90 day EAD on the i-94 and the guy I worked for is holding my job for me but is getting antsy. He says he'll be happy enough to get me back on receipt the approval notice. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if you can start working with approval notice (you mean the e-mail?) only.

I had EAD before with my F1 visa.

I already had the card on my hand, and found a job.

The job needed me right away, but my EAD wasn't effective yet.

So the first 3 days, I had training on the job but no pay.

The employer said they can't pay me cause my EAD wasn't good and it's illegal to pay me.

But they reimbursed me the 3 days pay when my EAD became effective.

They added extra pay to the next paycheck.

So I guess it depends how flexible your employer would be.

well, I hope you hear good news soon!

Recieved my wife EAD card today (expires 12/12/09).

Called up SS to verify what document are needed and was told that my wife can not get ss because her B1 Visa is now expired. The lady stated that I need to call IRS to get a tax Id. Was hoping that someone knows a little more and can give us some tips. Was planning on going to SS office with Foreign Passport, EAD card and try our luck.

Brief history

Wife entered legally was inspected on a B1/B2 visa. Then she overstayed and now her visa expired last month. Not sure if she can get SS but wanted to try anyway. Any input appreciated.

Also we wanted to get a Non-drivers Id so she doesnt have to carry her passport around and in NY they require an SS.

Immigration Journey

09/15/08- Married my Wife.

10/07/08- Sent out I-130, I-485, GR-325A, I-864, I-765, I-693 Evidence of Marriage.

10/09/08- Package arrives in Chicago.

10/16/08- Money Orders Cashed. $930, $80, $355

10/20/08- NOA Received for I-130, I-485, I-765

10/27/08- (I-130) -- TOUCHED

10/28/08- Received Biometric Appointment for 11/07/08

11/07/08- Completed Biometrics. 30mins in and out.

11/07/08- Both I-485 and I-765 touched. Looks like it was touched/updated due to biometrics.

11/24/08- Requested I-765 Expedite.

11/28/08- Received Interview date for 01/28/09 @12:30pm/ garden city, ny.

12/08/08- I-765 updated on USCIS. Ordered production of your new card. Think expedite worked.

12/18/08- EAD CARD RECEIVED (expires 12/12/09)

12/30/08- Applied for SS with EAD, Birth Certificate, Marriage License, Passport no i-94 or valid visa was needed.

1/28/09- Conditional Green card approved. Passport stamp I-551.

11/8/10- (I-751) Removal of conditions received in Vermont. $545.00 Sent

11/17/10- Received I-751 Receipt dated 11/9/10.

12/29/10- Recieved NOA for biometrics on 1/18/2011 , 1PM. Woodside, NY location.

Hello everybody! I was out of town since several days, and missed all the good news!

Congratulations to all the recent approvals.

I got a chance to check my e-mails, and I got approved!!!! :dance::dance:

They said AP approved on the 13th and EAD on the 17th!

Yeah!!!! I am so happy!!!

I keep in mind the rest of us still waiting. Don't worry, it is coming. :)

Yeah, i mean the email only Turbo - from reading everyone else's letters it seems that it doesn't say NOT to work and I have a SSN and the boss is a cool geezer so maybe I'll take my chances.

Hey all, just checking in! Nothing else to report today...I'm gearing up to run to Social Security the moment my EAD arrives - well very soon after anyway! I already have a SSN but I want it changed to my married name and need my EAD to do it. Anyone with other news?

N-400 Journey

June 9th 2012 - Application sent

June 14th 2012 - NOA sent

June 28th - Biometrics letter sent -- July 26th Appointment date

July 12th 2012 - Early Biometrics/Walk-in

August ( ) - Interview letter received -- September 14th Interview date

September 14th 2012 - Interview! Oath date in hand, September 20th @ noon!

Well just a late night post here but i just received a email from the Wonderful CRIS to tell me:

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On December 18, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

WOOHOO now i get to work wait why am i excited???lol

congrats to everyone else.

04/10/06: Arrive in USA on F1 visa.

08/15/08: Marry the most amazing woman in the world.

10/08/08: Sent AOS package to USCIS.

10/13/08: Package Delivered (I-131,I-765,I-130,I-485.)

10/20/08: Checks Cashed.

10/24/08: NOA's in mail for all, all receipt numbers show online.

10/28/08: Biometrics Appointment letter received for 11/13/08

11/13/08: Biometrics completed successfully, case touched online also i presume because of Biometrics

11/24/08: NOA for Interview

12/13/08: AP Approval letter sent out

12/18/08: EAD Card production ordered

12/20/08: AP arrives in mailbox

12/23/08: EAD Approval notice sent

01/20/09: Interview date in Mount Laurel, NJ (Cancelled but will still be attending this one also, realized why it was cancelled.....Inaugeration)

02/11/09: New interview date (Rescheduled due to cancellation letter)

I just got my EAD approved dated Dec 18. I'm off to the airport to go back to my home country now... I'm so excited.. :)

I guess us later October filers will hear some good news in the New Year..seems about the 60 day mark is when people are hearing things are moving forward.
