Hi All,

We got the dreaded yellow RFE for Tax Returns for the last 12 months for my wife and her Mum (household member from the additional support section). Even though it says this information is optional when we submitted it AND they have this info on record from our original K1 application. Grrr.

Also, it says that they need info for my wife's mother's prospects for future employment and chances at promotion etc. She is a Pharmacy manager for Target and can't go any higher than the position she has. The things is, Target give a standard letter template for these letters to all staff and if we need this additional info it could take 2 weeks plus to get it from Target HQ.

Do you think we should just send back the standard letter stating her salary, nature of employment, etc, and see what happens?

Our "NEW" I-765 was received in Chicago on Saturday...who knew there was anyone there!! So hopefully we get our NOA 1 for the EAD soon. And we were also shocked to see our Biometrics Appointment letter in the mailbox already!! Our appointment is in 2 weeks! Things seem like they are flying now, compared to the long drawn out process of the K-1. Quicker the better!!!

Oh Cr@p! I think I may have made a mistake on my I-765! I was just reading another post out on the forum and had totally forgotten that I have had permission to work here before! I had a J-1 visa and worked for an au-pair agency which brings us from Europe for a year. They fill out all of the paperwork, etc. Well the form asks if we ever applied for work authorization before and now I don't know if my answer "no" is right! I've never applied to USCIS for anything before (everything was done in London) and have no documentation from any of the J-1 stuff, since it was light years ago , in 1988! My Biometrics is on Thursday, maybe I should mention it...or call...or something...what the heck should I do?!!!

Beantown Babe,

I had EAD through F1 visa.

I wasn't sure if I check renewal or permission to apply on I-765, so I called USCIS.

They told me it's my renewal since it is not my first time applying for EAD.

When I applied for EAD through F1 Visa, I didn't apply myself since my school took care of it.

So i'm thinking your agency might took care of paper work when you had J1.

Do you remember getting a card that says work authorization?

I don't know anything about J1 visa, so I might be wrong.

Either way, you need to wait for RFE to do something about it.

Hope everything goes smooth with you.

Thanks Turbo,

I know the agency took care of everything...but I do not remember getting anything that said work authorization - infact I absolutely did not get a card. I guess I'll just wait for them to contact me, but I don't want to seem as though I'm trying to hide anything! I TOTALLY didn't even think of it while I was filling in these mountains of forms, it was the last thing in my mind! It was a glorified exchange program if that means anything. I'll have to look into it some more and maybe even call the agency, if it still exists. Thanks though!

Hi Beantownbabe,

You got me worried too, because I also was a nanny before, and like you, I never thought about it when filing the papers!! :bonk:

I don't think we have to worry, because we never had a card, and in my case, I didn't even apply for a SSN...

I will let it like that, and see if something comes up. If it does, then I will just explain that because I never had a card, I didn't think I had to mention it.

And now Tanyaru mention it, I do remenber the DS-230, so yes, I got scared for a minute too!!
