Hi everyone , we just got back from the interview, she ask many questions such as, where we met, when , who was there. parents met each other or not, how they call me like if i have a nickname? showed our pictures including utility bills on our names, car insurance, she took some pictures out of the album and bills in our names. asked about religion because i m Muslim and my wife 's Christian. we said we dont have problems regarding about religion and cultur difference. She started asking questions if i have ever been arrested, had any problems with immigration nor deported, if i register to vote, and similar things like that they ask you at the end of interview. She asked for my passport and EAD and I94 and looked at it, but gave it back to me :( and we signed a paper. At the end she said she will review the case and get back to us in the mail. I asked her if there is any missing papers in our file nor any problems she repeated " i will review your case and get back to you in the mail" and we said thank you and left. my wife is so nervous about this we think we are gonna be called for a second interview. First of all; you didn't go there with solid evidences. Not too many convincing evidences.

Why did you guys file separate tax return? That is not really good thing to do.

For USCIS, one of the most important document is Joint Tax Return .

How about Joint Bank Account ? You had secondary stuff not primary.

I mean Utility bills, Phone records & pictures etc.....

Did you show anything that you have a common residence ?

You might be called for Second (A.K.A. Stokes) Interview but in the end you will

prevail !....

GOOD LUCK !... & Keep me posted..

My husband and I also filed separately, for a few personal reasons, but with all the other papers we had, that wasn't a problem at all. We were approved on the spot. I guess it depends how many things raise a red flag..

Our appointment was at 11:00am so we were there 20 min before then around 11:15 the lady from window came out and tried explain why they still have 10:00am waiting and so on etc. but we were called at 11:30 so we didn't wait much. Overall, interview was fine, she was looking for more evidence and i said that's all we have. so i really dont know what's gonna happen. my wife already called a lawyer if we have second interview. She s kind of nervous and frustrated, i was sad too not hear either approved or not but waiting is killing

I am not saying it can not be done with Separate Return, What I am saying is

a kind of DISADVANTAGE & Also Mehmet didn't show anything like primary doc.

Pictures & Call Logs are considered as small stuff. I am sure you have showed so

many evidences to prove that You guys do have common residence & mingling

financial stuff together. This is not I129-F interview like done in the consulates !......

I still think that the fact that she took your I-94 and made you sign that paper is a VERY good sign. We had the same thing.. so don't think you have to go for a second interview just yet. She might just ask you for more evidence and when you send it in, she'll approve it.

Do you have joint car titles? If you don't, maybe you should consider have that done. Just go to one of the Secretary of State offices here in Chicago and ask to have your spouse added to your car title and the other way around. If you're still making payments on the car, you can have the lease company add each other spouse names. It might help :)
