Hey guys, just to let you know we had our appointment today at the Boston office and we are APPROVED!

So the low-down..we go to the JFK building and go through the x-ray security, and then to the room on the letter. They tell us to go to another room and the guy takes my interview notice and tells me to go back to the original room. So w wait, and its filling up with loads of people and quite a few have lawyers..getting nervous...

And we finally get called after what seems like an eternity but was probably about 15 minutes and I'm pretty sure we got the same guy as Beantownbabe cos he mentioned he was on his 3rd career. We had to take the oath to tell the truth and then we sat down and he had all the paperwork we had sent on the desk. He asked us for birth certificates, passports, my EAD, my I-94. He asked us for each other's dates of birth, some bills with our names on them and confirmed a few details already on the form. I brought much more than this but that's all he asked for After a lot of stamping and signing places he then asked the 'are you a terrorist' questions, and it was difficult to keep a straight face in all honesty. And he took out the large red stamp pad and stamped approved right on the form.

He then mentioned about removing conditions and said we were to wait for a letter back in the waiting room and to have a nice day! So we got the letter after about 30 minutes wait and that's it!

Thank you so much to all the visa journey members who have helped us with questions we've had over this confusing process. No doubt we will see many of you over in the removing conditions forum in 18 months time! Good luck with upcoming interviews and speedy approvals to all!

Rosie, Fuzzy and I were at the same office this week. The letter they give you tells you that on the day you were interviewed you were adjusted and granted conditional residency. Then it tells you that you must file to lift the conditions, etc. Does anyone know if THAT is the Welcome letter, or something different?

Oh I see.. I wasn't given any letter so I was just wondering. I saw my friend's Welcome Letter and it was like "Welcome to the United States" plus other things but there was no mention of the date she was interviewed so maybe the one you got is something different. I think it's good they do that though.. I was taken away all my papers (I-94, EAD, AP) and now I have absolutely nothing to prove my current status, since they didn't even stamp my passport. I guess I just have to be patient and wait for the actual card to come in the mail..

Hey Beantown how its going? I have been taking nursing aide classes to become a nurses aid, so thats why you havent seen much of me lately. I am taking the classes for 2 weeks and then I graduate and I will be working as an aide full time and then within 4 months I have to take a state test to become a certified nurses aid, but its called STNA state tested nursing aide. Thats whats new but otherwise than that, we still havent heard a damn word from the aholes called USCIS, nothing I tell you. I hope it works out in the end and we get the approval so my wife and I can go to Canada to visit family and friends.

Do you already have a job offer as a Nurse's aide? If so, congrats. It's really hard to find a job in Ohio nowadays. I live in central Ohio which seems to be the heart of the rust belt. It's been almost 2 months since I got my EAD and I only had one job interview. I am still waiting on the outcome of that opening .. hopefully I'll make it and start working again.

Why are you waiting for your green card to visit Canada? Can't you just use your Advance Parole document?

My case was transferred to CSC in November and I haven't heard anything about an interview yet. Could you modify the excel sheet so that we can see who got approved without an interview, and when it was approved?

Hi all,

I haven't really posted much here but wanted to give my review of my husband's AOS successful interview, which we had today:

We arrived, and there were only about 15 people in the waiting room. Our interviewing officer was super nice and pretty funny. She swore us in, verified Part 1 of the I-485, asked the questions about drugs/prostitution/etc, commented that it was good that the vaccines were already done, and then asked me (USC) to give any documents we wanted that we didn't already submit. We gave copies of health insurance, car insurance, 2008 income taxes, bank statements, and 5 months of pay stubs. She asked me if I'd met his family, how and where we met, my husband's father's & mother's first names, my husband's birthday, if we lived in a house or apartment, and if my husband had yet met my parents. Overall an awesome interview! She said she'd, "probably approve this and get it all done today," and then explained the 2 yr conditional card and let us keep his EAD card & AP docs "because you guys already paid for them" (but they were free with our AOS submission). And then she asked if we had any photos, and she looked at all the photos we had (about 30) and made fun/nice comments about them, and then made some copies of them. The whole thing lasted about 30 minutes with the extra talking & copying we did. :)

It was funny that I didn't realize until now, while talking with my husband, that the only real questions she asked him (the non-USC!) were the terrorist/prostitution/drugs questions, and the rest she asked me. Also, when she was asking the questions, she read off the form, would look up to finish the questions, and while our friend was translating the questions back to my husband (we brought her to translate since he isn't yet fluent in English), she would look back down at the form, look up when he would respond no, and then look back down at the form for the next question. She didn't seem to "study" us or our body language, or scrutinize us, or ask strange questions. She was just really nice, which we were grateful for, since the other officers we saw to interview other couples seemed a little strict.
