Should I enter the USA with my wife in order to validate my immigration visa?

And when I move to the USA and I activate my green card, should I be with my wife and living with her? I ask because there could be 3-4 months where I'll be moving to the USA BEFORE my wife for schooling and working schedule of both of us (I would basically have to move to the US in July while my wife would follow in october).

Would that be a problem?

help!!

thanks!!

To use the immigrant visa, you must arrive at the same time or after your spouse does.

Your current plan does not work

US Citizen needs to be in the USA first.

No once you have Visa the prospective immigrant has 6 months to enter the USA, US citizen is not required to accompany the immigrant.

This is the case for most who file I-130 to USCIS in the normal fashion, US citizen is lining in the USA and in many cases has never lived overseas.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

How you file (DCF or via the US) makes no difference- the USC needs to enter the US with you or before you.

There's nothing to elaborate on. The only requirement is that she is in the U.S. when you enter on the immigrant visa--this is a restriction on you, not her. The requirement is satisfied the second you have been granted entry. I can't point you to someplace that expounds on all the things the USC is allowed to do (unless perhaps you'd like to read the Constitution and the amendments).

That's great then! :) Thanks!

I'm sorry to bother you again but... Can I do all the stuff in the USA (apply for a SSN, find a job, request my green card) on my own without my spouse?

And won't USCIS check if we live together after we enter?

Furthermore, last thing, I see on the I-130 form that we must specify the address where I intend to live in the USA. Of course, at the time of application I won't be sure of where I will be living, it will depend on the MBA program that will accept me. So I wander: shoudl I end up living somewhere else, what should I do? Will that be a problem? We were thinking I could indicate my wife's grandma address in Missouri, where I could eventually stay for 1-2 weeks if needed... is that ok? thansk !!!

You don't have to request your GC--it will be sent automatically within about 30 days to the address you indicate. The SSN will also be sent automatically if you indicate on the form that you want it to be assigned. Give them an initial address where you want these items sent. If you later move to a new address, you need to submit a change of address. You will need to show evidence that you lived with your wife when it comes time to remove conditions in a couple of years. You have time to get settled and establish your household with your wife before you will have to present that evidence--nothing is required immediately.
