They do have it in the US but it's branded as Theraflu, and they are the same. They come from the same factory, just different name.

I have to chime in too! My US husband is now obsessed with Neo Citran, and insists on having some whenever he feels the *slightest* inkling of a cold. He gets my mother to send it from Victoria. He is slightly, just slightly hypochondriac:) Theraflu is not the same. I think it is because Neo Citran contains some kind of decongestant medicine that is banned by the FDA for over the counter here in the States. The ingredients are not the same, I remember comparing them, although I can't remember what the name of the additional medicines were in the Neo Citran.

I think that's why many over the counter decongestants don't work at all the the US. I buy Sudafed at home now and save it for my rare colds and hubby's frequent "man flu" episodes.

I just checked this out and I think the ingredient is pseudoephedrine, which is in Canadian Sudafed and the extra strength cough cold and flu Neo Citran. It has been replaced by phenylephrine in Theraflu and other US decongestants, because you can use it (the pseudoephedrine) to make meth. Anyways, whatever it is, or maybe it is all mental (which most medicine probably is anyways:), my hubby is convinced it is better. I think you can still buy Claratin, which contains pseudoephedrine, but you have to ask the pharmacist for it and they keep a log to make sure you aren't buying it in massive quantities. I am not positive about this though.

Man I sound like a cold medicine junkie. Ultimately, I think the good old hot toddy is probably the way to go!

I had a nasty cold on the weekend and bought Theraflu (but the no sugar one), and I actually enjoyed it. I HATE neocitron and makes me gag.. but this stuff, I can handle. I just like that it's lemony, hot and puts you to sleep.. mmmmmmmm

I'm going to canada on the weekend and will bring some neo with me. I grew up on the stuff and am used to the taste. Haven't had it in awhile though and with the up and coming flu season probably need it.

I have the Extra Strength Neo Citran and the ingredients are:

Pheniramine maleate 20 mg

Phenylephrine hydrochloride 10 mg

Acetaminophen 650 mg

I have the Theraflu Nighttime Severe Cold and the ingredients are:

Pheniramine maleate 20 mg

Phenylephrine hydrochloride 10 mg

Acetaminophen 650 mg

AND

I have the Life Brand Hot Lemon Relief Colds & Coughs DM and the ingredients are:

Pheniramine maleate 20 mg

Phenylephrine hydrochloride 10 mg

Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 30 mg (the "DM" part of it)

I like the taste of Theraflu better than Neo Citran of any flavour. My husband brought the Neo Citran over when I first emmigrated in 2007. I brought the Life Brand copy. I don't like the taste of it either, but it does taste slightly better than Neo Citran. However, now that I've discovered Theraflu . . . .

Just out of curiosity, what about echinacea? If I use it at the slightest point of a cold, sore throat, stuff nose, etc, it never develops into anything. I didn't have any at the beginning of May, so I had a cold for a week!! First cold I had in years!! Really, echinacea works every time!
