I am assembling the documents for the applicant for my husband and only have a copy of my marriage certificate. We got married under the Islamic law while I was in the US and my hubby was in The UK. Now, my late father in law collected my marriage certificate and sent me a copy. Unfortunately, he passed away shortly after our marriage and we have no idea where the original is. The problem is that Islamic marriage in Nigeria isn't the same as a court marriage and although we have a certificate, there isn't any records to obtain another one. The embassy already did their research and found out that we are indeed married but I'm worried that the NVC will request the ORIGINAL certificate.
