I'm not sure about the I-864, but I have a few for the DS-230:

The absolute most common mistake seen on the DS-230 is forgetting to write the word 'Present' in the 'To' field on question 20. Most of us fill the forms out on the computer, but Adobe Reader allows only numbers in this field. People often leave it blank intending to handwrite it in after printing, but then forget, resulting in an RFE.

Police Clearance Certificate is another big RFE. Just make sure you play it as safe as possible and give them exactly what they are asking for. As with ALL requested documents, keep in mind that if you can possibly foresee there being an issue with anything then there probably will be, so do what you need to do to cover your all bases. Always err on the side of caution and leave no room for them to reject anything.

The last thing that springs to mind are any blank spaces in general. Consider every single question on the form and give an honest answer. If your native alphabet IS in Roman letters, then #3 doesn't apply to you, so write 'N/A'. Have no idea where you birth father currently resides, answer 'Unknown' for that section in #16. If you have no children, write 'None' for #19. Again, just answer everything honestly, whatever that answer may be.

Guys!

What can be the common mistakes normally happend in DS 230 and I 864 Forms?

What are the basic mistakes which can be the cause of delay or RFE?

This is very important question..

I m sure that V.J members will give me comprehensive answer!

Thanx..

Not reading and following the original directions literally and thinking about exactly how the USCIS and DOS want it and what they are looking for.

Of course the directions are confusing. That's why we have all our wonderful VJ friends.

this is an interesting topic for sure and helpful too...you should create another one giving tips on how to file an 1-130 and get it approved in less than 4 months (3 weeks from your NOA1) at VSC no less...WOW...I filed 1 week BEFORE you and got approved alittle more than 5 months AFTER you...first in first out, isn't that what USCIS operators tell you...uhuh...
