Too many obama supporters? I think the total of people who unequivecally support Obama is pretty small, I can think of maybe 2 or three who support him almost blindly.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I think there are more than that here, and in the real world he seems to be everybody's darling. Especially the media.

Are you suggesting the polls are wrong?

Here on VJ, there are a couple of members who think Obama can do no wrong. The vast majority of people posting are wondering how on earth we got landed with these two candidates as the 'cream of the crop', so suggesting there are a bunch of 'obama sheep' which you personally need to counteract with some pro Palin material (if that is what you were suggesting) is pure nonsense.

I didn't post any pro Palin material.

Incidentally - the demagogues were today complaining about the choice of moderator for the thursday debate. Almost as though they expect Palin to do a bad job - and need the "liberal media" card to feel better about it.

It's not the "liberal media" as a whole, just that the moderator has written a biog of the Obama's and is likely to be perceived as biased.

Now the question is whether they can be professional and not show any bias at all (the ideal scenario - let the potential VPs have at it), or will they get a couple of sly digs in (acceptable, but a little cheesy), or whether they will show favouritism throughout the debate (not what the viewing public want to see).

If it is the last case, it is debatable whether it would hurt Palin, being on the receiving end of a slanted moderator, or if it would hurt Biden as a sympathetic reaction. Personally, I hope the moderator asks the questions evenly to both of them, them butts the hell out of it and lets Palin and Biden get on with it. That way, neither of them has an excuse for performing badly.

That would be great, hopefully that's the way it will go down. If she crashes and burns, so be it.

It can't go that way, the debate format will be significantly different from the Obama-McCain debates, on the McCain teams request. There will be much less opportunity for them to spar with each other. It will really be just taking turns to answer questions, and most likely they will just be answering from preprepared scripts.

Even not sparring with each other would be ok by me if they were asked random questions and didn't answer from prepared scripts. I'd like to see both of the talk of the top of their heads. Sure, they can prepare to a point, but it makes it much more interesting when they don't know the exact question and they have to think on their feet.

The main question that I would like asked of the candidates is where the stand on what the office of the VP is. Cheney has done his best to muddy the waters. I would like an educated, reasoned and clear answer to that question from both candidates.

You're an eternal optimist, too, aren't you?

well it's a pertinent question. Palin is quoted as saying that she didn't know what the VP did. Cheney has claimed not to be part of the executive. As far as I understand Bidens position is a more traditional view of the VP as being in the executive brance. It could never be considered a gotcha question. It is the position she is interviewing for. If she doesn't agree with Biden on this, I want to know why. I believe that she should be conversant with some of the big supreme court rulings, with the bush doctrine, with what foreign policy experience actually means. People have found excuses for her coming up short on these things. This is a question that not having an adequate answer for is unforgivable.

I was angling more at the "educated, reasoned and clear answer" part. One answer is likely to be short and not exactly clear and the other might keep you watching till Sunday and it still won't be clear.

Well having your own politics doesn't preclude a person from doing their job in a professional manner.

I very very very much doubt that it will be a one-horse show on the part of the moderator. What I think though is that the talk radio folks will cry foul about "unfair bias" if Palin comes off like a dolt.
