what's amazing is the unbridled hate shown towards palin.

Its not hatred. I think the reaction is all about why she was picked. Its about the integrity of the decision. Lets face it, I dont think anyone can say there were not others who would be better qualified.

I really dislike the word 'hate' when it comes to how a person feels about candidates.

But.......in a conversation with a friend just the other day, I admitted I could grow to hate Palin. Really hate her. She's a bully, a big mouth, and clearly gets off on making smart cracks. I've got no use for that kind of person in my daily life. I certainly don't think they should be in charge of government.

I suspect many have grown to "hate" Bush. Not him personally - but hatred of what he represents.

I must confess - I don't really care for what Palin represents either.

Its the wisdom of the VP decision that everyone really needs to question. How was this best for the country under the current world events?

People like to compare Palin's experience or lack of with Obama's, which is absolute nonsense. There is an important key difference as well, Obama was not just hand picked by someone because of race or gender.

AJ's bait threads aside - most of the criticism of Palin has come out of that recent CBS interview.

I don't understand why anyone would feel the need to defend that performance. It WAS terrible.

Marc, it's this simple, I don't hate you, far from it, but I do think your arguments are weak and idiotic.

I have another question for Palin supporters. Metta, and others have held her up as both a Maverick and as someone who wants to cleanse politics from corruption (put the 'good 'ole boys' out to pasture for good). That's a good thing, right? Well, sure if one could actually put some meaning to that in terms of things she will actually do.

For instance, talking of corruption, it's one thing to identify people who indulge in corrupt practices and remove them from office. Great, but what happens next? How does the public know that once they are removed they will not be replaced by someone else who could be equally or more corrupt? Surely what is needed is a change in how things are done, not just a change of faces? In that regard, what exactly is Ms Palin proposing? Has anyone even asked? We all know what happens when we elliminate our symbols of what is bad without thinking through how to create something good in it's place. Are you guys really saying that all that is required from her VP ship is to strip away all the waste on Capitol Hill? Which jets is she going to sell on Ebay?

The same thing applies to being a maverik. Being a maverik isn't an identification of political ideology, it's simply saying that someone doesn't simply dogmatically follow party lines. Now that could be a good thing, on the other hand it could be an extremely bad thing. Simply being a 'maverik' tells us very little and I have yet to hear what exactly Ms Palin stands for at all, if anything.

i have tried to understand the continuing support of this woman, and the only support that those defending her can offer is that she is popular. At this point that is their only defense. It's the line the the main man JMC himself is using. Not her governer experience, not her positions on anything, her popularity. Circular logic, no?

I actually don't think she is VP material and no way is she ready or capable of being President at this point in time. In 4 years, who knows. I try to balance things out here as there is way too much Palin bashing and too many Obaaaaama sheep.
