On his JA phone? or did you give him a new phone to use? Or tell him to call you collect? Andre's phone would not work once he left JA. Wouldn't work at all. We tried everything. And, that stupid thing was from the US and unlocked. New SIM card....we tried everything.

yeah Digicel will NOT work outside of Jamaica. I think you have to call them prior to leaving for them to activate International Roaming, and you have to have enough credit LOADED on the phone as well if it's prepaid. Actually he did what you asked him to do Lita...call when you reach Ft. Lauderdale...not the airport in Jamaica.

I dont like fruit cake either, but I do want to try and incorporate some traditional Jamaican item into the holiday menu, so I think Im going to try and make sorrel. It's funny because I told my husband that I was going to work really hard to try and learn how to cook some Jamaican dishes. He's a really good cook, so I've pretty much been spoiled. He told me I should get a cookbook, I told him I was just going to try and copy what he does. Im also going to check out a lot of the dishes that you guys post here....

Good luck Mrs P - I have a jamaican cookbook and while I follow the recipe to the letter, nothing tastes the same as in JA. I think just the fact that the brands are different makes a difference in the taste. I made brownstew pork this weekend and while it was good, nothing like I tasted in JA.
