It's only a 4hr drive from Maryland, so I think I'll do it just to have it if he does want to work right away. There will be jobs I hope since the holidays are right around the corner. The other thing is taxes. He'll have to file his taxes if he's works in 2008. I don't know?????

Uncle Sam is right there to shake your hand to welcome you to the USA while holding his other hand out. Gonna have to do it sometime...

I ponder whether the transistion is easier if they can get a job right away. Jamaicans are used to alot of socialization and parties. Not quite the same here. I know if it was me I would go absolutely crazy if I was home day in and day out, especially without kids to keep you occupied.

I'm not sure either way, to be honest with you. There are so many things to adapt to, getting a job just adds to those things.

OMG.....Ma Bar is the bomb, isn't it? There is a Santa bath bomb coming that will be just like it. Mmmmmmmm.....

Jungle is the love of my life. I put it in a spray bottle with some water, let it melt, and then spray it on my hair every day as a leave in. I swear to you, I have men follow me around telling me how good I smell. I have traced it back to the Jungle.

I can't use the shampoo bars. I'm "The Blonde" kinda girl. Travelling with those shampoo bars is awesome. You can use them on your hair and body. No more dripping messes in the luggage.

I love the Ma Bar - I don't even need lotion when I use it - I bought the shampoo bars specifically for travelling, but I had to try it early, lol - Love how clean and shiny my hair is -

Oh, yah, that was my other point.....once we married, they said it was then invalid. It kind of sucks all the stupid rules.

What was invalid after you married??

The, oh, crude, it escapes me now.....the I-94 (?) is that what I am thinking? I'm sorry, it's early and my Diet Coke has not kicked in yet.

They told us Andre could've gotten his SSN, temp DL, and all that if we had applied before we married. Since it was after, it was voided out, and we had to wait for GC.

JG, I think you should quit working in the store and move up the ladder to become the spokeperson for Lush. I'll watch/listen for you on tv and radio! I refuse to try it because I KNOW I will get hooked - and my budget can't afford that right now.

If it paid me enough to quit this job and work my way up, I would.

Oops - forgot to add that the closest Lush to me is in the Casino - somewhere I am trying to avoid! They had an $8 shipping special online -

Last year, after Christmas and through February, they had buy one get 2 free on soap, bubble bars, bath bombs, and wrapped presents, except for the hat boxes. Everything else was buy one get one free. They dont' do the same promotion every single year, so not sure what it will be this time. But, something to keep in mind.

Thanks Wakey and Sus... I'm getting ready to book Ray's ticket to come next Friday, but still trying to figure out if I'm going to send him through New York or straight to Baltimore.

My 2 cents - send him through JFK, since you are so close, so that he at least has the option of getting a job. Even if you plan to marry right away there still is the delay time in getting the EAD.

The option; but even that is not foolproof. He can technically only work the 90 days it's good for and then still has to wait for his EAD or GC, whichever comes first.

Yep great point JG! Unless you all are plannig to marry right away the 90 days can go towards the wait time for EAD. It sort of like throwing mud on the wall to see what sticks. No way to be certain how it will come out

Oh, yah, that was my other point.....once we married, they said it was then invalid. It kind of sucks all the stupid rules.

So are you saying if he gets the stamp on day one and we married on day 10, the work stamp is no longer valid.

I was thinking of getting the stamp, marrying right away and hopefully the EAD will be here if not before shortly after the stamp expired.

No. If he gets the temporary employment authorization stamp, it's good for 90 days.

He need to wait 2 weeks for his info to get into the system and apply for a SSN. Because that is what is made invalid if you marry and the I-94 becomes invalid. You need the SSN to work as well.

Good Morning All,

Great pics Sunny!

Sunny I live about 20 minutes from JFK, let me know if I can do anything to help...

Also, I have a question for you guys. My SO is making his appt today for the medical, however, he has no idea where is immunization card is, I told him they would just do a blood test to see what vaccine he has, and if he is messing any. I saw Sus post about it costing $300-$400, should he just go to a clinic and have them do the blood test and administer whatever vaccine he needs? Everything is happening so fast, we are seriousy under a time crunch!
