 Oh, so I found my ring. It was in none other than......my jewelry box with the rest of my jewelry. Ironically its the one place that I NEVER put my ring....go figure. I went looking in there the other day, but guess it just blended in with all the other jewelry that I didnt see it. But like yall said, as soon as I calmed down and took a minute to think, something said check the box again.....whew!!! I need a break!!

Marie i'm sorry but i'll check rgd site to see if thy offer express...u don't need to be there to get the marriage cert and ur BC does not need to be notarized

kool Lita

I was thinking that too. Since I am renewing Andre's passport, I have had a lot of contact with his birth papers lately. It's already got the seal on it. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why it would need to be notarized too. Usually, only when you sign things or send copies of them, do you need them notarized.

I did see that show - after having it done, I have no clue how they went out to lunch - I went home and crawled in bed!

It wasn't bad at all - the hardest part of the whole thing was that you have to keep your eye open against this really bright light while they do it and you can't blink - Then they send you home with vicoden and goggles and tell you to sleep. The next am when I got up, I could see, just a little blurry. Within a few days I was pretty clear - The worst part was the first few months where my eyes would tire and blur from overuse, and get dry - I lived for my eye drops.

But overall, it was one day of discomfort, about a week or so of blurriness and antibiotic eye drops, and no problem since -

After a bunch of tests, they verify that you are a candidate for surgery.

On the day of surgery, they numb your eyes with drops.

They hold open your eyelids, one at a time, with this thing that looks like a torture device; but not so bad. You look up at a very bright light while the laser comes at your eye.

It takes about a second, no pain, a burnt smell, and it's on to the other eye.

Afterwards, I sat in a room for a half hour and was scared cause I could not see a thing.

Went home and slept all day.

Next day, back to the doctor. It was better. Far from perfect; but better.

I'd say about 5 days later, I was almost completely healed. Had some trouble with the computer screen for a few months after-----and most of that was cause of the dryness. I still went to work.

I used the drops for about 6 months or so.

Since then, PERFECTION.

Like I said, BEST thing I ever did. I don't miss the glasses or contacts one bit. To get up in the middle of the night and see....to swim without issues.....to walk in the rain....to not have any fog issues on hot humid days when I go outside from the a/c.....KISSING hubby.....Falling asleep without taking worrying about my eyes sticking shut in the a.m. cause I forgot to take the contacts out.....

I could go on and on!

Thanks for the info! I am really considering this. How much did it cost?

Mine was $695 an eye. Be careful here. You don't want those $295....a van pulls in, does your eyes, and then disappears. If you were to have issues, they would be long gone. I've seen it cost all the way up to $4,000. Ask around your area and get some referrals from happy customers. That's what I did.

Marlita....did you ever seen the movie, The Island? I think that is what it was called. They kidnapped these people on a boat and to make them stay awake and torture them, they put toothpics in their eyelids to keep their eyes open.

That's sort of what I was thinking about when I was in the chair having Lasix.

I thought the Island was the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio about ganga?

Anyway, have you seen Fire in the Sky? This man is abducted by aliens and they clamp his eye open with the same device, but then they do some nasty stuff to him.

You make my eyes ache.

The Island I am talking about is pretty old. I remember it from when I was a kid.

 Oh, so I found my ring. It was in none other than......my jewelry box with the rest of my jewelry. Ironically its the one place that I NEVER put my ring....go figure. See, we knew you would find it. That's great news. One less thing to worry about.

Morning all!

My Lasiks cost around $3500 - More on the high end, but I had talked to some people who went to the cheaper Lasiks center, and they had problems - I would rather pay more and go to a dr. that was well known and respected.

Why are some consulates able to give visas same day?!! I read that other embassies get the stamp in their passport within a few minutes. Of course they do!! and of course JA is not with the times and its all a ####### shoot as to when you get your visa. Arent these all US government agencies? Shouldnt they operate in the same manner?

I agree Marlita - I was just talking to my friend about this the other day. She is from South Africa, and married a naturalized American in 1998 - they had a quick civil ceremony in the AM, then went to the Consulate with their marriage certificate - she had her visa in her hand that day! She was amazed when I was telling her how different the process was in other countries, and how long it can take -

Through some doctors you can, 1luv - With mine, My employer offers a health care account where you set an amount to be taken out of your pay for medical expenses, and they take it out over the year - The full money is put on a credit card and is immediately available Jan 1 - So I priced everything in Nov, and then set my health care account to include enough money to do it next year - I had the surgery Feb 1 -

I agree - The thought of those quicky Lasiks centers scare me though - it seems to be the new wave in business, and they are popping up all over the place. I guess my point was to go to a doctor that made me feel comfortable - I didn't care as much about the price as being comfortable with the doctor.

YOU! I was so worried about you. I went home searching for your number; but I couldnt' find it.

Don't you ever disappear like that again. I was ready to call the DC police and have them track you down.

Are you okay?

Hey everyone! I need your :help:

So last week when I was going to send Lance my documents I could not find my birth certificate. Since then I've turned the house upside-down looking for it and still no birth certificate. Lance went to the RGD office today and ordered mine via the 3-day service and they said it will be ready Tuesday (since Monday is a holiday).

Well I leave that here Tuesday to go and Lance says the marriage license takes 5 days to take and I would need my birth certificate notorized of signed by a JP in my presence.

I had to change my ticket to leave Sunday (10/26) because of work.

Somebody please please :help:

Is there any way I can get the marriage license in 2 or 3 days?

I just cant believe all this is happening right now. I wasn't planning on going back to JA until January because of my vacation time :crying:

why did you need your birthcertificate?

I LOVE MY HUSBAND!!!!!!!!!!!
