Why are some consulates able to give visas same day?!! I read that other embassies get the stamp in their passport within a few minutes. Of course they do!! and of course JA is not with the times and its all a ####### shoot as to when you get your visa. Arent these all US government agencies? Shouldnt they operate in the same manner?

Just a little vent. I just saw some people getting visas same day and I cant stand to hear that!!

Oh Kimmy, we are likely staying at the Chelsea Hotel. The Mister says he knows the area cus he used to work near there. Its has a pool hall too, and he loves pool, and i lov the juke box. So thats where we'll likely stay. its a great deal and you get 5th night free!!

Yardie I was wondering where you have been I'm so sorry about your tooth issues. I hope you feel better real soon. I know someone who was an oral surgeon assistant and she told me if you ever need a tooth pulled or root canal you should go to an oral surgeon or a specialist because dentist will attempt things that they think they can handle and then end up can't finish the job or some other issue occurs. She said her office got a lot of calls from dentists who attempted extractions and couldn't complete them because the tooth was more complicated than they thought. Sorry you had to bean example one of those cases she told me about I am hoping for your speedy recovery. (F)

My dentist refuses to pull teeth or do root canals anymore. You have to go to an oral surgeon.

Hey everyone! I need your :help:

So last week when I was going to send Lance my documents I could not find my birth certificate. Since then I've turned the house upside-down looking for it and still no birth certificate. Lance went to the RGD office today and ordered mine via the 3-day service and they said it will be ready Tuesday (since Monday is a holiday).

Well I leave that here Tuesday to go and Lance says the marriage license takes 5 days to take and I would need my birth certificate notorized of signed by a JP in my presence.

I had to change my ticket to leave Sunday (10/26) because of work.

Somebody please please :help:

Is there any way I can get the marriage license in 2 or 3 days?

I just cant believe all this is happening right now. I wasn't planning on going back to JA until January because of my vacation time :crying:

One clarification here, Marlita.....are they talking about embassies or consulates? It is my understanding that embassies are ONLY in the capital city of a country; but consulates are like satellite offices that can be anywhere. So, you hearing stories about consulates or embassies? Not that it really makes a difference cause I am not really sure what exactly consulates can do. If they even can give out visas or not.

I do know for Andre's passport renewal, we can send to a handful of JA consulates in the US and then they send it on to the JA embassy in Kingston.

I wonder if those they are talking about are smaller or bigger or more technically advanced or what to make the same day thing possible.

Hello everyone. Marlita - both US Embassies and Consulates have visa services. Some countries have one than one Embassy. Conuslates usually cover a regional and do different functions...kinda like the mother of Embassies in a regional, I believe. The visa approval procress depends on the post (Embassy or Consulate). Some like Kingston are considered a high fraud so they do extra background checks on the fingerprints after the interview...that's why some take longer than others.

Don't worry, your hubby will be here soon. Good luck on finding your ring. The Embassy experience will be behind you.

I did see that show - after having it done, I have no clue how they went out to lunch - I went home and crawled in bed!

It wasn't bad at all - the hardest part of the whole thing was that you have to keep your eye open against this really bright light while they do it and you can't blink - Then they send you home with vicoden and goggles and tell you to sleep. The next am when I got up, I could see, just a little blurry. Within a few days I was pretty clear - The worst part was the first few months where my eyes would tire and blur from overuse, and get dry - I lived for my eye drops.

But overall, it was one day of discomfort, about a week or so of blurriness and antibiotic eye drops, and no problem since -

After a bunch of tests, they verify that you are a candidate for surgery.

On the day of surgery, they numb your eyes with drops.

They hold open your eyelids, one at a time, with this thing that looks like a torture device; but not so bad. You look up at a very bright light while the laser comes at your eye.

It takes about a second, no pain, a burnt smell, and it's on to the other eye.

Afterwards, I sat in a room for a half hour and was scared cause I could not see a thing.

Went home and slept all day.

Next day, back to the doctor. It was better. Far from perfect; but better.

I'd say about 5 days later, I was almost completely healed. Had some trouble with the computer screen for a few months after-----and most of that was cause of the dryness. I still went to work.

I used the drops for about 6 months or so.

Since then, PERFECTION.

Like I said, BEST thing I ever did. I don't miss the glasses or contacts one bit. To get up in the middle of the night and see....to swim without issues.....to walk in the rain....to not have any fog issues on hot humid days when I go outside from the a/c.....KISSING hubby.....Falling asleep without taking worrying about my eyes sticking shut in the a.m. cause I forgot to take the contacts out.....

I could go on and on!

Thanks for the info! I am really considering this. How much did it cost?

I LOVE MY RAMPING SHOP!!

Sus, since nothing in my satement allured act about a anyone acting in a role as a servant, so I will not respond to your statement.

But, let me bring back to your attention, Malita had commented in a post that Evan had told her not to do everything, because he wanted to help her. I'm sure you missed that post.

You know what I don't need negative people in my life, because my life is good. To all of those whose friendship I value I will contact you personally, but considered this my sign-off to negative and smart ### comments. I will no-longer post on VJ.

Have at it.......

Be Blessed

I thought the Island was the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio about ganga?

Anyway, have you seen Fire in the Sky? This man is abducted by aliens and they clamp his eye open with the same device, but then they do some nasty stuff to him.

 The Island was about human clones that were housed on a private island to be replacements for the rich wealthy people if they died or needed some type of organ transplant, a baby, a new set of breasts...etc etc.:rofl:
