Kimmy I just got contacts again and I love them. I used to wear them years ago but I stopped because it was annoying trying to put them in and they kept falling out etc well I decided I wanted to go snorkeling and actually see something this time when I go to Ja so I just went and got contacts again. Acuvue has a new kind that is hydra something anyway they feel so different and they are so easy to put in. I have had no problems. I also found out I have an astigmatism so maybe that is why I didn't like them before because they didn't feel right. Well I love these new kind and I probably will give up my glasses all together. Try them. They have a coupon online to get a trail pair for free http://promo.acuvue.com/promo/refer.do

I love Kohls they have terrific clearance sales! I usually get all my accessories from Kohls. Where do you guys live that Walmart has layaway? The Walmarts around here stopped their layaway programs last year. Is this a holiday layaway only?

Oh I tried the link I posted and it didn't work. Go to acuvue.com and look for trial pair.

I love Kohls! Loehmanns in Norwalk is great too -

Did you ever think of getting Lasiks? I had it done two years ago and I love it!

I had it done about 7 years ago. Best thing I have EVER done in my life.

I have been buying at least one Christmas present a paycheck since the beginning of June. I am nearly done. I hate shopping during the busiest seasons. Working in a mall spoils all that for me!

Yeah I did but I just talked to this new dr I have and he was saying that he would not recommend it. He wears glasses also so I asked him would he get it and he said no. He said that when you get to be 40 or so something happens to your eyes as far as preceiving distance and since I am nearsighted this will work to my advantage when I get older or something like that. He was saying basically i wouldn't need bifocals when I get older like most people and I will be happy about my problem with my eyes. He said if I get surgery then I would more than likely end up with the same problems people who don't have vision problems get because of age. It was kind of technical so forgive me if I didn't get all of what he said right. I was just turned off because he is like the 3rd doctor that told me eventually I would still need glasses again! I'm not cool with that. I was like ok basically you are telling me I can live eye glass free temporarily? They are like yeah! So I said no thanks. I'm happy especially now that I found some contacts that aren't a pain. :)

My doctor said that there was a possibility that when I was older I might need reading glasses, or night driving ones - But I was blind without them - I wore both contacts and glasses, and when I calculated the cost of them per year (I have an astigmatism, so my contacts were expensive) and compared it to the cost of the Lasiks, it was cheaper to do the Lasiks - even if I only make it 10 years without glasses. It was quick and easy - I could see the next day, and my vision was fine within a couple months, 20/20.

Kimmy, I went to Dr. Doctor (no lie, that's her name) in Westport - she has offices in Norwalk too, but she teaches eye surgery at Yale -

Plus, you get a tax deduction on your medical expense for the year - I actually planned in advance to do it and put the money into my health care account - that way, it was taken out over the year from my pay.

Same here. I could not see in front of my face since I was a kid. It cost me a total of $695 per eye. 7 years later, without buying glasses, contacts, cleaning solution, etc. It's been worth every penny and the small time it took to recuperate.

Sus, I could not see my car radio right after surgery, yet I could see for what seemed liked miles. I still like to test myself to see how far I can see. It is such an amazing thing.

Heya everyone :D

Sorry I have been MIA. I had the week from hell. Long story short I went in to the dentist for a crown last Monday...he nicked a nerve cause the cavity was so deep that I had an emergency partial root canal on Tuesday. There was so much (TMI) bleeding and stuff going on that they couldn't do it all...that plus they ran out of time cause my mouth is so small (mi knoa, mi knoa  )and the tooth is way in the back. So they did what they could. Had massive pain for days...going to the denist everyday with them trying to pinpoint the reason. Missing work and sleeping away the days on pain meds. Went on Thursday only to find out that the tooth next to it is now chipped and cracked from the "stress" and they think there is an infection. Saying they can't do anything for me cause my mouth is so swollen and had too much "trauma" I am going to have to wait it out on pain pills til my mouth "settles down". So for all those days I am in massive pain taking back the pain pills as often as is legally allowed, eating my food through straws, cranky and vexed as can be. They finally did something yesterday...filing my teeth down or something that is actually giving me a little relief but not much. I go in with a specialist next Monday for oral surgery. All in all...not fun :( Tooth pain/nerve pain is horrible. I can't imagine anything worse. So now I am back to work...behind and still in pain on these pain pills that help but not like those other wonderful ones that knock me out! I sure hope I make it til next Monday and that I will be done with my dental nightmare.

Hope you all are well. Just wanted to check in with ya.

Congrats to Sunny

I did see that show - after having it done, I have no clue how they went out to lunch - I went home and crawled in bed!

It wasn't bad at all - the hardest part of the whole thing was that you have to keep your eye open against this really bright light while they do it and you can't blink - Then they send you home with vicoden and goggles and tell you to sleep. The next am when I got up, I could see, just a little blurry. Within a few days I was pretty clear - The worst part was the first few months where my eyes would tire and blur from overuse, and get dry - I lived for my eye drops.

But overall, it was one day of discomfort, about a week or so of blurriness and antibiotic eye drops, and no problem since -
