Need refresher Info. Once chklist faxed in??

Hi, can someone refresh my memory about when \ how we can request my fiance's interview date once she faxes her checklist in? They will email me or my fiance' in about 3 days after the checklist is sent in and her or myself emails them back requesting the date? Or do we fax the request in at the same time she sends her checklist in? I saw it before from other VJ'ers but I can't remember for sure.

Also... what's a recommended hotel close to the US Embassy in Vancouver she can stay at when attending the interview?

Feb. 14, 2006 >> Faxed NVC to request change of Embassy for my fiancee as she moved from the Philippines to Canada Jan 20 2006

Feb. 15, 2006 >> NVC had me fax a 2nd request for Req of Change of Embassy.

Feb. 16, 2006 >> Called to ck on 2nd fax request, too late, file sent to US Embassy in Manila.

Feb. 21, 2006 >> Called US Embassy in Manila to ask for Req for change of Embassy to Vancouver. The representative said it shows the request already made. (Evidently from the NVC or Vancouver)

April 3, 2006 >> Received call from Vancouver US Consulate informing me that my fiancee needed to fax them a copy of her Canadian work permit, our case #, current address and phone #. Fiancee faxed requested documents that same day.

April 20, 2006 >> Packet 3 rec'd from Vancouver US Consulate.

April 24, 2006 >> Fiance' faxed DS-230 to Vancouver US Consulate

April 24, 2006 >> I scheduled medical examination for my fiance' for May 1, 2006 $220 Canadian.

All I did was fax the checklist in and emailed them the following day to see if they received my fax. They said yes and that my interview letter had been mailed out. I received the interview letter the following day. I never sent in a request for a certain day and the day that I was given was perfect so I didn't try to get it changed.

As for the hotel I heard that many VJers stay at the Days Inn which is only a few minutes walk from the Consulate and its less expensive compared to other hotels in the downtown area.

On the second page of the checklist there is a space to enter preferred interview date and they try to accomodate you the best they can. They schedule interviews about 4 weeks from the day the checklist is sent.

11/13/06 Received a letter for Biometrics appointment

12/08/06 RFE accepted in Lee's Summit - USPS confirmation

12/12/06 RFE recorded on file by USCIS
