Did you send 485 to the local office?

Hi Everyone,

I sent my form 485 to the Chicago address for my husband. I did exactly what the instructions said.

We have been waiting since July when we got married to receive his EAD and AOS but the processing times at the Chicago office are very slow. Today I was fooling around with the processing times on the website, and just decided to check our local office in VA. To my surprise, I found that they were processing AOS and EADs also, and in a much quicker time frame.

I am wondering why I didn't submit the package to the local office. It would have been so much faster! Did anyone submit theirs to the local office or did you send it to chicago.

No one sends I-485 to field office it MUST be filed to Chicago lock box, USCIS will forward it to filed office if an interview is required.

I-485 timings are listed by field office because the offices operate at different speeds for interviews.
