He hasn't called in two days........

My sweetie has spoiled me, I know that. I speak to him every night for one year. And the last 2 months we spoke 3 times a day, morning, afternoon and evening. Last Friday he went to Mykonos to work during the summer. The last time I spoke to him was Weds. night. I tried calling him this afternoon and after he said "Hello" the line died and then the call went to voice mail. I know that his phone doesn't work that great when he is on the island. But I am freaking out because two nights have come and gone and I haven't spoken to him. I know this is crazy but just the fact that he is in Mykonos which is a big party island with women laying around topless, and he goes out for drinks after work FREAKS ME OUT!!! I tell myself everyday, "he loves me, he is coming here to be with me, we are getting married" but we are entering our 5 month apart and I am going through a mental melt down. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! ADVICE PLEASE ON HOW TO COPE WITH THIS!!!!!

Just remember that he loves you and that he deserves your trust. I feel this sort of way sometimes too -- like if I call him and the phone rings but he doesn't answer or something. But there's always a reasonable explanation and proof I'm crazy and when your fiance' calls you, you will feel crazy too! lol

But seriously, something REALLY similar happened to me once when my fiance' went to stay with a friend of his and his friend's family in a small town near Pescara, Italy. He had NO cell service at all there 90% of the time and when I tried to call him, it'd go straight to voicemail or it would connect but so badly we couldn't even hear each other. Eventually, he found a working pay phone and he would call me for like 3 minutes a day until he finally went back to Florence -- your fiance' is probably in a similar situation and he's probably dying to call you but just can't right now.

How long is he supposed to be in Mykonos?

Stay calm, it must be the reason you said, trouble with phone, think that he wouldn't go through this process and moving there if he didn't love you.

It is only natural that when we cannot reach out and touch our honey's via ma bell.. that we only think of the worse. . Human Nature...

In the past two 1/2 years with Jan many many times the phone service is off.. but within time we make the connection.. .. only nightmare for us was when he actually did get in a motorcycle accident.. mobile was crushed he broke his leg etc.. No one in his family had any way to reach me.. nor could speak english either.... total nightmare... .. since that occured.. we both realized we cannot do that again... so we have a backup... even if it is as simple as his brother sending a text message or email.. something.. ..

If you two havnt talked about the what if's .... might think of doing so... alot better knowing that is something happend to him someone would let you know.. I know for me it took a big weight off my shoulder... yeah I still freak... yeah I still get jealous.. especially when I hear of him going to Weddings or parties or functions.. or even now more jealous cause he is dealing with this Lady in Canada for product for a Wedding there ... and.. she is manipulating his time.. but.. al in all.. it is I he is coming to .. it is I who he dreams of... .. that I know . and that is what you should remember for you baby too... keep your chin up.. he will be right there. soon.. hugs....

I totally understand how you feel! It is hard not being with your fiance, especially when they are so far away.

You have two choices... you either trust him, or you don't. Plain and simple, nothing in between.

The fact that you two are going through all of this says a lot. it is a very discouraging process, and I don't know how anyone who doesn't truly love each other would make it out alive!

You must decide to trust him, or not trust him. When you are in limbo of this, all you will do is drive yourself crazy. You will never really know what he is up to, as he won't with you. It's just impossible, and trying to speculate is not going to do you any good... or give you any concrete answers or justification of your paranoia.

I am sure he will call you, and everything will be ok. My best advice is to focus on YOU, and your immediate life, NOW. Don't worry about things you can't control. Only live your life the happiest you can, even while you wait for your loved one to be with you.

Also, you are totally normal for feeling this way! I think we all go through it in some way, shape or form.

I have been to the Greek Islands and sometimes the phones do not work, you cell loses all reception, its a fact, no need to panic just yet, he might of tried to call you, he might be a wee bit busy as the tourist season has just begun, give your man a chance, it is you he loves not the woman who go topless.

AS some one you has spent 25 years traveling the world and being noncumunacado for up to 6 months I can tell you it is so very very hard to stop the dark thoughts however everyone goes through this and it is normal just realize that 1 your mind is wrong so say that to your self every day things are good. Two do somthing to get your mind off of things read a good book -or my prefference The Good book, go to a movie, write him a long love letter, get your hair nails done etc.

and it is a really good idea to have a back up plann as stated in an earlier post I

to was in a motorcyce accident and except for a full face helmet most likely have been in a coma instead of 3 hours in ER for minor cuts and bumps. After that realty set in as to how stupid I was not to have a very good comms plan in place and I of all people should know this so now I have it and incase of a problem so most wonder Lady in the world will not be hang out wondering what happened i also got a resonable life insurence policy for her so that if I get the Big phone call she is taken care of at least several years

If he was born and bred in Greece he will be used to seeing topless women and it wont mean a darn thing to him. Remember it's you he's marrying not one of them. It's hard not getting your regular phone call and you are probably worrying ,which is natural but he'll find a way to contact you when he has better reception

Thank you all for responding to me with your advice. As you can see, it's early in NYC and a Sat. and I am up, couldn't sleep well.

I think it is a good idea that a couple of you mentioned about the back plan in case something does happen. Like have someone there call me or text me if anything were to happen ie: Motorcyle. This I know he rides and that too freaks me out because he rides without a helmut.

Hello again: Just to give you an update. Andreas called a few minutes ago. He said he loves me and that he had an accident at the restaurant. He is working now and will call me tonight to explain what happened and that he is OK.

Back Plan is definitely going to be put into motion now...... being so far away from him, it's important to know if he is safe and sound.

Another member asked how long Andreas will be in Mykonos, he will be there for the summer season, then back to Athens. I feel bad because in February he sold his business (a cafe) in downtown Athens. We thought this process was going to be quicker. Now he is jumping from job to job while we wait.

I'm glad he called and I hope everything is okay! I often wondered how I would find out if anything terrible (God forbid) happened to my fiance' -- he doesn't live with his family and even if he did, we don't have a common language. AND none of his friends in Italy have my phone number, even though I met most of them. I always mean to discuss that with my fiance', but it always slips my mind -- maybe we'll talk about it tonight

Oh yeah, that does suck about him selling his business in Athens! It seems quite a few people have left jobs only to have the visa process take a lot longer than planned. Hopefully he will only have to go from job to job for a little while longer.
