If thats what suits their fancy platypius then that's their business.

my nana always said if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Wasn't there a book with quotes like that somewhere? I think this was it:

All I Really Need To Know

I Learned In Kindergarten

by Robert Fulghum

- an excerpt from the book, All I Really Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten

All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten.

ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW about how to live and what to do

and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not

at the top of the graduate-school mountain, but there in the

sandpile at Sunday School. These are the things I learned:

Share everything.

Play fair.

Don't hit people.

Put things back where you found them.

Clean up your own mess.

Don't take things that aren't yours.

Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.

Wash your hands before you eat.

Flush.

Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.

Live a balanced life - learn some and think some

and draw and paint and sing and dance and play

and work every day some.

Take a nap every afternoon.

When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic,

hold hands, and stick together.

Be aware of wonder.

Remember the little seed in the styrofoam cup:

The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody

really knows how or why, but we are all like that.

Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even

the little seed in the Styrofoam cup - they all die.

So do we.

And then remember the #######-and-Jane books

and the first word you learned - the biggest

word of all - LOOK.

"Only from your heart can you touch the sky" - Rumi

So, is the end like a big party? I saw a truck with a big bar-b-que pit in the back of it, backing up to the pavilion too.

The Islamic Center here has scheduled "breakfast, rides and games for kids, lunch, socializing, dinner, and more," so yeah, sounds like an all-day party. I'm going to drive by there after work and see what's going on. They're celebrating the Eid today, btw.

I'm the USC.

But I wasn't being mean when I wrote that.... I was telling the truth. They have a new place to play, so there hasn't been as much "nasty" stuff here on VJ in the MENA forum. The OP asked a question, I gave the answer.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Platy - I would hedge a bet that some who migrated aren't there simply to be able to cuss/gossip/etc whenever they feel like it. You are painting a picture of one small part of why some choose not to post in this forum anymore or likewise - choose expats over VJ MENA.

Oh I know you weren't being mean! I'm sorry if you took it wrong. My point was just that I've been over there and read a few of the threads and for the most part it's a nasty place where people trash talk about others and it reminded me of what my nana said about not saying bad things which led to my tangent about kindergarden. Sorry this is my first cup of coffee in a month so I'm racing. lol

Oh, I know that LaL. However, I was addressing the original question about the lack of locked threads and such. "Those" members seem to be getting their hate/anger/snideness out over on Expats, so there hasn't been as much of it over here on VJ. I'm focused on the micro and commenting on the micro. You're interpreting my comments on the micro as pertaining to the macro, and they're not.

Yeah, it's a little like the Wild, Wild West at the moment....

It's because everyone's afraid of me.

You frighten me.

It's because everyone has found another place to play where they can call each other rancid cows, dredge up past wrongs, and gossip about each other from behind other usernames to their heart's delight.

Yeah that place is a mad house. People over there are fat ugly sows, stupid, dipsh!ts, trannies, etc. (And thats what they call me  )

I find it amusing there, and there are some good people there too that just like to swear like drunken sailors. But it isn't a place for people with thin skins because they attack all....lol

I still come back here however because I love you all. I cry when you cry and I rejoice when you rejoice. And I hope that some of what I have learned on my journey can help others. :star:

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'
