Hi,

Today my I-130 was approved. What is the next step. Wait for the NVC to send me a bill or packet or should I file any more papers at this time. One more thing is my I-129F is still pending and will be approved any day once my I-129f gets approved can I abandon K-3 processing or should I write to the NVC asking them to abandon my K-3 process and continue with I-130.

Any help would be appreciated.

Now you fall into the hands of the NVC. You can read a lot about that in aussiewench's thread

Also, sounds like you might want to review the IR-1/CR-1 guide

I'm not sure how to abandon a K3 process (other than just halting your correspondence with them). We're going to continue ours as a contingency plan and probably bring her here for a few months while we wait for the CR-1/IR-1 interview. ttyl,

Let me show you how to get your tax returns the easy way

aussiewench's thread for kicking butt in the NVC ('cause i'm too lazy to keep looking it up - haha)

We stopped pursuit of CR-1 to pursue K3/AOS. For us, both required the same document, we could only have one valid copy, and the K3 was moving faster.

See profile for the details up to and in between the events listed here.

Congratulations on the approval

Have a read of the links that mich provided, it will help you understand the NVC process and give you ways of saving time during this process.

It takes approx 2-3 months on average to process through NVC and that is depending on a smooth run through (no AR) and using the shortcuts or timesavers which are within the link mich provided above. Going by the information in the Embassy Info (top of page) it is taking approx. 2-3 months to get an interview in India once the consulate receives the petition from NVC. If there is an interview scheduled for the K-3 and the I-130 is forwarded to consulate before this date then it overrides the I-129F for the K-3 and you will interview for the CR-1. I have noted that some consulates do not just swap the K-3 interview for the CR-1 yet others do. Those that haven't have had to have a new interview scheduled. I do not know what India does in this case but someone that has gone through India hopefully will, or you can call/email the consulate. You should be able to slow down the scheduling of a K-3 interview if its looking like the I-130 is going to complete at NVC and be forwarded to consulate, if that is what you wish to do. You do have x amount of time to send the checklist back eg that says you are ready for interview. Another option would be to continue processing the I-130 through NVC, go for the K-3, enter the US, not adjust status then return to India for the CR-1 interview and re-enter using the CR-1.

I hope that helps

All the best

Lorelle
