Hi everyone,

This is how our story starts...I would like to warn you that this might never happened to anyone before. :crying:

I went to Jordan in February of 2005, and it was not easy to get engaged to the love of my life Aboodti, finally after 11 days we got engaged in Jordan and we were the happiest love birds alife.. after we got engaged basically the middle eastern way. I came back and left my love behind :crying: to start the immigration paper work from Texas. I submitted the paper work as soon as I got back from Jordan. I sent the paperwork in April of 2005, got the Noa1 after 30 days and it took until Aug to get the approval and paperwork back in Oct, 2005 and an interview was set for May 29th, 2006. At the interview he was informed that the K1 visa cannot be approved because we have a formal paper from court that they accept as we are married since the relationship between USA and Jordan is good and "Kateb Ktab" is marriage. I contacted the American embassy in Jordan by email to find out what did really happen and they told me that the K1 for is wrong and I have to submit the K3 visa since we are considered married. I was told that I had to wait for the paperwork to get to USA so I can send the K3 visa. I submitted the K3 paperwork and I was informed by the INS that they might consider the K1 visa we sent first and everything was put on hold until I hear from the INS in USA.

It took one year and we did not hear anything so I decided to consult a lawyer about whats is going on with our case. I was informed that there is no way for the Ins to accept the K1 visa since the marriage is considered valid so we submitted new K3 visa through a lawyer so everything can be right and he can be with me as soon as possible. I did all the I-130 form in April, 2007 and got the first Noa after 40 days and did not hear anything from them until in January, 2008 they requested a copy of my finance's Birth Certificate and I gave it to the lawyer to send back to the INS. Again I did not hear anything from them so I called the INS about a month ago and they said that they sent the G-325 back for me to correct them and send it back to them and they also asked for copies of the marriage certificate in Arabic and the translation and new pictures for me which I know for sure everything was sent with the paperwork that the lawyer sent to them. So I decided to do everything my self because no lawyer knows what he does. I sent the paperwork in Sept 15th, 2008 and got it back because in one of the blank areas I wrote none instead of N/A. I just mailed everything back to them on 27th of Sept, 2008 and hoping they will have no more surprises for us. If you can advise please do so..Thank You!

Welcome to VJ! We are happy to help, but what kind of advice would you like/ what question have you got?

There are several couples here who had to go the K3/ CR1 route because their (religious, sometimes engagement only) ceremonies were considered marriage ceremonies by the USCIS, so though I am not one of them, you are not alone!

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
