Ooopssieee... we are generating reactions here now. Hehehe!!! The world needs love - GROUP HUG! I don't think it'll bother me to give someone a hug- so long as he's not drunk (don't need puke all over me). But I think the police officer does have a reason to be cautious. Call it paranoia but you just can't be too sure these days.

Police officers' alertness has to be amped up to the near point of paranoia
Level of alertness. That's being polite. Call it what is: ####### factor situational awareness

fixxored
The situation is that most cops are pricks, and I am aware of it.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

I don't blame the officer. If some stranger who appeared intoxicated came towards me with his arms stretched out, particularly if I had a holstered gun I would just stand there. He'd be on the floor drooling on himself.

we have another republican convert!

What I said is just common sense. Police officers' alertness has to be amped up to the near point of paranoia, but even if I weren't an officer and some strange drunk guy came at me with his arms stretched out, if I felt threatened by him, I'd respond appropriately.

aren't you the guy that's saying someone needs more hugs, yet here you are saying someone better not hug you?

Hugging someone without their consent is just dumb....although I suppose it would depend on the circumstances on how I'd react. Imagine if this guy just walked up to Nessa and gave her a bear hug. I'd imagine you'd probably want to lay him flat on the floor. You don't know the guy from Adam other than he's acting drunk - there's no telling from observation just what the hell he is trying to do....for all you know, he may have a knife, or might be trying to pickpocket. Nobody has the right to invade another's personal space without their consent...that's how I feel about it.

you must have a different breed of cops up there. pretty much every one of them i know are pretty nice people.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

"The name's Francis Sawyer, but everybody calls me Psycho. Any of you guys call me Francis, and I'll kill you."

francis.jpg

Reminds me of an Alice Cooper song:

You can burn my house

You can cut my hair

You can make me wrestle naked

With a grizzly bear

You can poison my cat

Baby I don't care

But if you talk in the movies

I'll kill you right there

It's the little things

It's just the little things

Aw it's the little things

It's just the little things

Yeah it's the little things

That drive me wild

I'm like a mad dog

I'm on a short leash

I'm on a tight rope

Hanging by a thread

I'm on some thin ice

You push me too far

Welcome to my nightmare

No more Mr. Nice Guy

You can steal my car

And drive it into the lake

You can stick me in the oven

And put it on bake

You could throw a big brick

Through my window pane

But if I ever hear you ask me

How I got my name

(there's more just didn't bother)

WOW!

Thanks for posting that *Marylin*.

Anyone with even a tiny bit of combat training, knows how to simply move away from their assailant, in this case "the hugger".

So, it is laughable that he needed to hurt and or handcuff this person.

No one gets hugged if they don't want to.
