I'm making a copy of my passport for proof of citizenship----- but try as I might tho the text comes out fine--the picture is way too dark---I look like a shadowy price of darkness peering out the window of hades....

Does the photo quality really matter in this case?

I'll be enclosing good quality passport phot so----?

any seegestations?

Try getting a color copy if the black and white copy is turning out too bad.

As long as all the pages are copied and ledgable the quality of the photo shouldnt matter..

I agree with Mekky. Another option would be send the photocopy of your birth certificate or naturalization certificate (depends on which one is appicable to you) as the proof of your US citizenship.

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

No they don't really care... as long as you are vaguely visible it should be okay... at the worst they'd say 'this photo isn't clear enough, get us another one'.

As the others said, B/C or Natl card.

Also you could try to turn up to a lighter quality copy on the scanner/copier if you still want to use the passport.

I second motu's suggestion for FedEx Kinkos; ask them to help you with the correct setting.

If I remember correctly, there's a chance they'll fix it where you don't have to pay until you have the copy correct.

AND you do need it in COLOR.

Unless what you have's in b/w, absolutely do it in color.

I have a quick question about the Passport photos in one of the forms it asks for birth Cert. however it also says Passport copy if had for 5 years. I had my brother look for my Birth Cert. at home as I am in Thailand and he can not find it and I do have a passport but for only 3 years will the copies from it still be sufficient?

stang_01, if it asks for Birth Certificate, that is what they want and if you don't send it, I'm sure you'll get and RFE asking for it.

Isn't it okay to scan pages and print them out?

Of course it is.

If you set the scanner to "photo" and set the quality to best, or "maximum", it will give you a very high quality copy( it will just print out a little slower).

Each machine is a little different on what it can do and the options is has built in to it. Just play around with the settings to get the results you want.
