NOpe its not correct..just call around more for CS..and explain your situation I think I called like 15 CS before I found a "fair" one and just did the vaccine update and to transcribe the vaccines to I-693 form.

Why are so many Civil Surgeons Clueless about K-Visas??? I guess they feel that they can RIPP the unsuspecting K-AOS applicatnts. DONT LET THEM.

Just take a copy of I-693 instructions to them and have them read.

Recently USCIS has updated form I-693 with updated directions for Civil Surgeons explicitly explaining that ALL K-Visas do not need a full physical.

I-693:

2. What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical exam overseas?

If you were admitted as a:

A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e), or as a

B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen, and

C. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then-

a. You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination.

b. You will, however, be required to complete Part 1, Information about you, and submit the vaccination section of Part 2 with your adjustment of status application. A designated civil surgeon must complete the vaccination section and Part 5, the Civil Surgeon's Certification.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-693instr.pdf

And form I-485 directions have this:

8. Fiancé(e)s.

If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment-of-status application.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485instr.pdf

If they refuse to work with you, then get the required vaccinations anywhere even county health department, where ever it is the least amount, and then send records to the doctor in TX, I heard they will do the I-693 for $20

What was given to POE was medical exam. K-Visa holders dont need vaccinations to get visa, only needed later when applying for green-card.

In your case I would visit a family doctor, health department, clinic, where ever it is the least expensive and either get tested for immunity (Titer test) AND/OR get vaccinated, then take the new records to a C.S for transfer to the I-693, or do it by mail with the doctor in TX.

In our case, my wife got the appropriate vaccinations done before leaving Guangzhou AFTER her visa interview, and got a record (Yellow Book) which we later had transferred to I-693 by a C.S. AFTER I Beat up the doctor using form I-485 directions stating NO Medical needed. FEE $30 for I-693, and aprox $100 for vaccinations in China.

Note: Vaccinations are NOT a requrement for NON-Immigrant visas, K-Visas are NON-Immigrant. They are requirements to Immigrate, that is what Adjustment of status is.

Vaccination Requirements

United States immigration law requires immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the vaccination requirements. See IV Vaccination Requirements for the list of required vaccinations and additional information.

As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...tml#Vaccination

Now if the vaccination record was in the packet and turned into POE.

I would file the I-485 without vaccinations record, and either wait for RFE or get requested to bring to AOS interview, you may not get RFE or request if they (USCIS) has the record. I-485 directions indicate that you "MAY" send in the I-693 with the I-485.

They tried to tell me the same thing, but when I showed them what I printed out he quickly changed his tune. I did the same thing at the SSN office. They just don't know or don't care to read up on changes.

For some countries they ARE required. My wife had to complete all vaccination in Costa Rica before they would schedule her for a K-1 interview.

they said that my wife has to do the exam again and have all the shots again because she does not have any documentation (the paperwork was taken by the customs offical at the POE)

is this correct?

NO!

This crook and his crooked staff are just trying to rip you off. You do not need another exam, you do not need new bloodwork, you do not need any new vaccines (if your overseas medical was before 6/1/08), and you do not need to pay some them $250-400 for unnecessary services. They either don't know the rules (that your original exam is good for 1 year) or are just plain greedy. My guess is the latter. This happens all the time with these guys.

They know you have NO documentation because you had to turn it in at POE. Yes, they DO know this, that's why they ask for it. They know that they are asking you for something that you cannot possibly have. I bet if you told them you had a copy of the exam they would be shocked and would come up with a different excuse why you need another exam. This is the MO of all these "doctors".

Like others have suggested, try printing out the I-693 instructions and showing it to them. And you do not need to prove that you had a medical exam. You wouldn't be able to come to the US if you didn't have one.

If all else fails, Dr Arnold's office has a very fast turn-around time from what is reported. I think they can get your completed form back to you in under a week for $20. You just need to send them a copy of the vaccination worksheet that the doctor in Korea should have given you.

do you have that vaccination record? if so, you can mail that, w/ the I-693 to the civil surgeon in Texas. He will complete the I-693 and mail it back to you in a sealed/stamped envelope. You then mail that w/ the other forms for your AOS. I don't know what fee Dr. Arnold charges for this but I think its around $30. The phone # is listed below, just give him a call.
